Encasing a Giant Dandelion (Western Salsify Plant) in resin

It took me 2 tries to get one of these into the car without it blowing away. I didn't think this would be a problem as they've been sitting outside for days and days already anyway. This was also the biggest one of these I've ever seen.

I bought this pitcher thinking it would be bigger than I would need, but it was a really tight fit and then i used all of the resin I had left

I put 2 drops of blue dye in with the resin, but that was maybe one drop more than I really wanted.

Here it is demolded from the pitcher. I had to sand it flat so I could epoxy it to a waste block

And then turn it on my lathe. I wanted a vaguely hemispherical shape

Which I think I achieved!

I didn't want to turn away too much of the plant so its not super round. It took a _lot_ of sanding to get it this clear

But it looks really neat all lit up with this red/blue plant grow-light that I have
