People confuse me

Are governments and whole communities attention seekers for shading lights onto monuments? As an Imgurian who doesn't personally have a Facebook account, let Facebook have their odd little method of memorial.

I'm not angry about it. But it seems like attention seeking, and looking for recognition for doing literally the least amount one could do

I don't see anything wrong with it either. I, however, will leave my picture alone. Just like the past 4 years.

I think the issue lies in that several countries were attacked over the last week. The focus on Paris seems inappropriate.

Wait, are we not still mad about the cup?

I'm mostly disturbed by he juxtaposition of smiling face with the filter. Support France all you want, but do it with a solemn face

So much outrage over the Paris fb flag. What happened in Paris is sad. What happened in Lebanon is sad. Grief shouldn't be a competition.

I did the French flag for my keyboard lights and got promptly belittled for it

Hey, I defended you, you good sir!

I think you make a good point OP it's not like they are doing anything offensive, and does it really affect the annoyed people? probably not

People will always find a way to belittle others to make them feel more superior and seemingly intelligent, including in tragedies.

I guarantee most of the people who complained about the french flags being "slacktivism" did nothing themselves to help the Parisians.

Classic couch critics thats why

imgur's been on a recent streak about complaining about petty nonsense. I have to go to tumblr to get away from complaining.

I fail to see how it would honestly bother anyone, but I'm sure it will.

Something always bothers someone.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This bothers me

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Because like alot of things, it makes you feel good that you did something but without affecting any real change

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's showing support. Not everyone can afford to help

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm not disputing that. I'm simply saying that it doesn't actually change anything.

(1/2) People are upset about it all because people tend to believe theyre somehow helping france by changing their profile pic, not that

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

(2/3) theyre showing respect. It becomes disrespectful because then they promptly forget and dont care about what happened in france. Not

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

(3/4)everyone is like this, but i know alot who do. They do these fb things like passing fads for attention and then forget. its

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

actually pretty disrespectful. Because its not about France and the tragedy, it becomes about fb and themselves. again, not for everyone

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's not a bad thing, per se. It's just band-wagoning, and achieves nothing. Temporary feel-good "look at me, I care" social media BS.

You could not possibly know people's direct connection to what happened in Paris, lots of people have friends and family in France.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

Most people don't.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

So you assume.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 5

Pretty safe assumption.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

You are assuming to know the the complexities of 1000s of peoples lives, or are you merely joining in in the profile picture circle jerk 1
