New Hobby! (please help!)

Mar 1, 2018 2:09 AM

Just finished putting together my very first Warhammer 40K models (great birthday present!) and now I need to paint them. I’m not very artistic though... any advice from veteran players? Are there easier ways to paint them than with a brush? Would spray painting absolutely ruin them?

Lots use spray paint to prime or basecoat. Shade/wash then dry brush then highlights. Done

Go to a gamesworkshop (or other hobby store) get an undercoat of a good colour, then just have to add details

Check Gamesworkshops Youtube channel, they have a ton of painting tutorials/tips that can come in handy; also a ton of other channels.

They sell spray paints for this specific reason.

A lot of good tips here already, but look for Duncan Rhodes on YT. He used to do GW's painting vids but now has his own business. Also, you can test techniques out on the sprue you cut the parts out from before using them on the actual models

It’s already too late... I just put together 87 miniatures and I already want more...

When I first got into painting, I watched plenty of painting tutorials on Youtube. Warhammer TV is ran by Games Workshop and is very helpful

There is modeling spray paint that you can get for a base, but just be careful if you do use it. The smaller details can be lost quickly.

I’ll have to look it up because I don’t normally paint but what helps me was I would just look at the different squad colors and then (1/2)

And then paint them something like that. Afterwards there is some like black watery stuff that you paint and it fills the cracks

Fine one more thing. It also makes it look a little worn and it just made all of my figures look 100x better. Would recommend.
