Despite Canada paying for the construction and the fact that Canada already had a joint ownership agreement to share the operation of said bridge with Michigan. We were already benefiting disproportionately from this. But ol' Dementia Don saw an opportunity to be a lil' bitch and try pushing around Canada even more, because he's too stupid to notice that he's pissed away his own main leverage (their relationship with the US).

What does it even mean to "own" part of the bridge? It means you're paying for the maintenance and little else. It's not like you can move the bridge if you don't like where it is. It's there, and it's going to be a bridge, that's it. It's already done. All that's left is keeping it up.

They have also managed to get Michigan to prevent the building of multiple additional bridges, which is why Canada has finally footed 100% of the cost on this one despite agreements with Michigan that any new bridges had to be 50/50. That agreement ended up being a back door blockade that has prevented more crossings being built, even at Sarnia/Porn Huron.
