FlightRadar24 used to be an amazing app before it enshittified.

It is, and always WILL BE the poor's fault. Not because it is, but because the rich demand it.

The classic "get the poor to point fingers at each other instead" misdirect.

They cannot be seen mixed in with the proletariat on commercial flights.

yup. we're soon going to need a permit to breath while they'll still be using their private jets.

But not the President - he did something right (accidentally).

But even if he stays at home, he emits plenty of methane.

They're probably flying to a summit to discuss how average citizens can cut their carbon foorprint, so no worries.

My preference is for a stiff carbon tax redistributed as part of a UBI / citizen dividend. It's everyone's atmosphere, pay us for damages.

It’s interesting to me what a person can know about the locations of private jets.

Very interesting how much information is available to the public.

Only when they're in the air. It's a safety concern to fly without a public transponder that allows other planes to see where you are. That is federally controlled and there are only very specific ways you can fly without one. There's a lot of types of airspace and only a few of them allow transponder-less flight under 10,000 feet. While airspace is public domain you have a duty of care not to ram into another plane and fall onto peoples businesses, homes, and selves.

It would be reasonable to assume if they’re not in the air they are where they last landed. I find that to be the best part.

Oh, the fossil fuels!!!!!!!1

I always appreciated that all the gas stations in the Pixar universe were literally called Dinoco with a Dinosaur as the logo. A nice friendly dino reference for the kids, and over the top fossil fuel nod for the adults. :-)

I was pretty upset when the hybrid dinosaur in Jurassic World didn't run on electricity and fossil fuels.

I always presumed it to be a nod to Sinclair gas stations that similarly featured a dinosaur

That one jet, going from San Jose to Santa Rosa - indicative of the Kobe Bryant folly. It's a 2 hour drive, at most.

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I think it's quite a bit farther than that- but the point's the same. Hard to believe those passengers were at the game. Travel 180 miles south from san fran to turn around and fly 230 miles north?

It's about 100 miles, center San Jose to center Santa Rosa. 49ers Stadium is just to the West of San Jose - neighboring city of Santa Clara (not in San Francisco). These are daily commuter distances for some - you've got your mileage way off.

I'm trying to do my part and match them, but they stopped making those hair sprays with CFC's, so I can't spray them into the air anymore. :-/ It's tough being a nobody without a private jet or 80's aquanet. :-(

Buy a cow, and feed it beans. You'll at least be up the ladder a couple rungs.

CFCs were a different issue.

And the hole in the ozone layer has shrunken significantly since we reduced the CFC usage.

Still a drop in the bucket compared to industrial off-gassing. Focus there first.

Container ships are guilty too.

Or, you know, both. Both are completely fuckin viable, unlike asking every single citizen across the nation to stop driving and start walking 63 minutes to carry home 10 pounds of groceries.

My roommate is a 70-something woman with two knee surgeries in the past six months and she can walk to and from the grocery store with considerably more than 10lbs haul in Canadian winter.

Don't give the useless more excuses.

In an ideal world, we could do both at the same time but we're doing neither right now so realistically we have to start with one.
