My attempt at Kamiya's rooster - on 75x75cm kraft paper

I really admire Satoshi Kamiya's work, and he's really good about publishing folding diagrams (not just the crease pattern). Dude's apparently been folding origami since he was 2 years old, so he's got his shit together http://i.imgur.com/q3DOZ.gif. His book (https://origamiusa.org/catalog/products/works-satoshi-kamiya) is an awesome trove of intermediate-to-advanced designs.

His rooster design - featured in Tanteidan Convention 19 - is recent and really caught my eye. In total, this fold is 194 steps (excluding all the "repeat steps xx-yy on other side" http://imgur.com/afhSEsC).

Cavendish for scale.

The head was a pain in the ass (http://imgur.com/yY5zmp7). Keeping the beak and gobble in place while crimping for the eyes just didn't want to happen. (I cheated with a lil bit of glue, don't tell anyone.) The flared mohawk was really fun to fold, though.

The paper was slightly thicker than standard printer stock, but a little springier. Just standard stuff from Walmart.

The legs were an interesting touch, essentially being rolled up and rotated backwards for the feet to face front. At least, that's how mine wound up. A little wobbly on its footing, so it needs some help standing up.

I learned a lot in this fold, and it's probably the biggest square I've done so far. Others have done crisper folds of this online, but overall, I really like the way it turned out!

First time posting my origami, I can post more... if you guys want? http://imgur.com/oy1FLv9
