How do you people do this shit? I end up with a giant MESS of a pumpkin that is nothing discernible at all.

I just printed the sigil online, cut it out, and taped it to the pumpkin. I traced the outline and then cut it with a precision screwdriver

Woodworking chisels, I'm guessing. Maybe a grouter or two?

At no point did I actually cut through the pumpkin - except for removing the top to hollow it out.

For the words i traced through the paper with a boxcutter and then just peeled the skin with a small precision screwdriver.
