My son is only 8 but his whole class was quarantined at school last Friday because someone else there tested positive for covid. He had to leave school last Friday and wouldn't be able to return until this Monday. His grandma lives with us and watched him during his time home. He didn't start displaying symptoms until this past Wednesday but it seemed just like allergies. I started getting them too. I however got the 2nd vaccine Monday and tested Tuesday for covid. My test came back negative but I feel I should get another test. My son tested Thursday and I just now got his results saying he was positive for covid. His mom was gonna take him to get a test earlier in the week but disappeared to god knows where. I just know he was worried about having covid and now that I know, I'm scared to tell him because I know he'll be scared. I don't want to tell him but I know I have to. The only part he will probably be happy with is that I will stay home with him now instead of his grandma. She should probably get tested too but she refuses to get the vaccine.

Tldr: Son got covid, knows he will be scared when I tell him so I don't really want to. I still will though because he needs to know.

Edit: well he is awake now and so I had to tell him. Yes he cried and he's still wondering how he got it.

My condolences to your kid and you. As a healthcare provider, explain that if gma dies its not his fault.

Statistically you both will be fine. It’s the unvaccinated grandma who should be concerned.

Also whatever happens, make it clear to your son that it's not his fault. Shit happens.

Better make sure grandma has her will filled out

Hopefully she has life insurance because she don’t have anything else. Relied on others to take care of her for her whole life
