She is, by far, one of my favorite characters ever.

That show was good

Loved season 1. Didn't really care for season 2. I remember ages ago listening to an audiobook for Long Dark Teatime of the Soul read by Douglas Adams. It was absolutely amazing.

I miss this show so much I re-watch it like once a year

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's Fiona Dourif. Her dad is Brad Dourif, of Wormtongue and Chucky etc...

2 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

She plays a pretty good holistic assassin.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

She is also in a couple Chucky movies, and plays multiple characters in the TV show: her movie role of Nica, Chucky, and a younger version of Charles Lee Ray.

Never has a daughter looks so much like her dad than she does . I think her dad is a great actor and highly underrated .

Such a fantastic series, RIP

The dude who got stuck with the knife danced with Buddy the Elf in the mail room… how life changed

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So, are all her stats in luck?

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Basically. She's a holistic assassin, meaning that the universe puts people that need to be killed in front of her and she kills them.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Dirk Gentlys Holistic Detective Agency. Holy shit what a good show. One of the only shows ever to make me say "holy shit what the fuck" multiple times pet episode. And Elijah wood!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Absolute favorite complete season of a show ever , season one was a masterpiece.
Bart, the women in this scene was my favorite character by far

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Does she have super luck, or what's her deal?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Holistic assassin. The universe places her and her target together. She kills who she feels like, and they seemingly can't hurt her, presumably because the universe wants them dead

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

She is a leaf in the stream of creation

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Old? This show isn't that old.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Only 8 years

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

God damn it.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Wanna feel old? The movie Independence Day came out longer ago from now (28 years) than the Apollo 11 moon landing did from the release of Independence Day (27 years).

I fucking love Bart so much. I miss Dirk Gently, what a fantastic and underrated series.

Luck is not a super power!

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My favorite character in the whole show. I was very disappointed when they didn't have her in the second season.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What movie is this ❓️

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thanks for the reminder. I need to rewatch this. She was easily my favorite character.

2 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 2

Her acting was amazing in this show

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

She’s an amazing actress. I love her in the Chucky movies and the series.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Her dad was the voice of chucky

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’m aware. She’s fantastic when she impersonates him in the Chucky series.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

While I don't believe Bart was in the book she is very much so something Douglas Adams would come up with.

2 years ago | Likes 134 Dislikes 1

She wasn't. The only part of this story that Douglas Adams had actually written or story boarded was that Dirk got hired by the rich dude and was in route to the town.

2 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 0

And the throw-away line about the case with the couch

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a massive fan of the book I actually really enjoyed this series despite it being very different to the original content. An absolutely wonderful show that should never have been cancelled!

2 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

The series being entirely different from the book is on brand for DNA.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Fiona Dourif was really great. She's the daughter of Brad Dourif who (among other roles) was Piter DeVries in the 1984 version of "Dune" and also Grima Wormtongue. He was also the stranger in the video for Toto's "Stranger in Town"

Dude's been in lots of stuff, hard to pigeonhole him into one part.

And the voice of Chucky

Nominated Oscar for supporting role in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, and a Golden Globe. I think it was his debut.

weird (well not really, I was prolly high), but I def watched both seasons, don't recognise this at all....but it's also familiar.

A very poor adaption of Douglas Adam's Dirk Gentley's Holitstic Detective Agency- it's its own thing that completely misinterprets the joke of the books story.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 6

It's very different from the book, yes. But it's also much better than the book.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

I interpreted it less as a "poor" adaptation and more as "inspired by"... Not all books are set up to translate into a tv/movies without (sometimes dramatic) changes.

2 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

IIRC, the HHG2TG film gets a lot of flak for being too different from the books, but D Adams was very involved in developing the film adaptation's development

Big shame that the writer for the tv show, Max Landis, turned out to be a huge POS. 😢

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

That series was a trip! I absolutely loved the first season, but it was so all over the place that it was bound to have a steep fall off. You just can't capture lighting in a bottle twice.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

very good first season

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

First season was very fun to watch. I loved the bridge hostage scene in particular.

Second season was meh.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I didn't like the way the second season changed the feel of the show, but the longer I watched, the more it grew on me. Now I think it was great.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oooh ive only ever seen this version

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2303367/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_3_tt_4_nm_4_in_0_q_dirk%2520genm

I didn't know there was another series

I really liked this series, unfortunately stopped after 2 Seasons

2 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Wait.... I'm just finding out there's a Dirk Gently series?

2 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 0

Better yet, there's two entirely different ones. One UK based one that is somewhat like the books, and a US one which is completely different, but manages to be completely unhinged in just the right way (which this gif is from)

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Yep. Sadly the show runner, Max Landis, turned out to be absolute scum so it died after 2 seasons.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

there are two, one older one with stephen mangan with just 4 episodes, which I enjoyed, then the newer one with elijah wood (from ~2016) with a bunch more, which I also enjoyed.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The show was absolutely amazing. Sadly way too short with only 2 seasons.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

(Plus, Douglas Adams also wrote for Dr Who, and tended to recycle ideas, so you could almost put *Shada* as the original Dirk Gently TV, if it had actually been filmed)

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Darker than I expected for some reason, but very well done and worth the watch!

2 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

How did they turn two and a half books into a TV series

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They took the essence of Dirk Gently and ran off with it in several unexpected directions.
