Baxter crossed the rainbow bridge

Baxter, the brown and white dog, finally crossed the rainbow bridge. He had something wrong with his heart. They said we would only have a year, but he gave us a year and four months. I had the pleasure of being his pet sitter and watched him go from an older dog to an ‘old man’, as I affectionately called him. He loved to eat and any time you walked in the kitchen, he would follow, hoping you would drop a piece or two for him. In the end, the only thing he would eat is toast, which he got lots of. His brother, Payton, is now alone. Their owner has asked me to keep him for a week, possibly more, because he said it’s too hard for him. Which I’m gladly doing, but I just don’t understand it. I’m not sure Payton understands it. But I’m giving him all the love I can. Please remember to hug your pets and keep them close.
