FYI - you don’t have the right to record audio in all states. Also, your rights to do any of this only extend as far as the cop adheres to the law. That is, they will often do what they want since they never get called on it. Even if they do, nothing happens and they know that.

I thought recording consent was for conversations that had a reasonable expectation of privacy but conversations held in public or in the course of executing public duties had no recording consent requirement. I may be misinformed though.
