My Dad's Christmas present, handmade by me!

So, I'm a broke graduate school student and my dad wanted an Oklahoma State sign for his garage that he just redid. All the ones that were as big as he wanted were close to $200.00, so I decided to make my own. Here is the final product!

I didn't take many pics because I was in a pretty big time crunch to get this done. The first thing I did was stain a 3'x2' piece of pine then covered it in painters tape. I drew out the parts I wanted to paint black then used an exacto knife to cut out the tape and peeled out the parts I wanted to paint.

After painting it black and letting it dry, I covered it with tape again and drew out the parts I wanted to paint orange and white.

Here it is before I did the final painting. I was incredibly nervous at this point that the Orange was going to leak into the black.

it turned out really well, I had to do a few touch ups where the orange bled into the black, but overall I was incredibly happy with it and my dad loved it!
