2½ inch fir slabs for the desk. Fir, barnwood cabinets. One in the corner covers water pipes for the under floor hearing.
Doors on corner cabinet are push to open so no handles get in the way when two people use this party of the desk for a desktop computer and laptop.
The large knot in the middle divides the work areas, about 40 inches each. ("This is my side, knot, your side")
Originally this drawer bank and the further section of desk wasn't in the plans. Just a floating long slab of solid fir at about 36 inches of the floor.
I lowered the whole unit to about 34½ inches off the floor to accommodate sitting at a desk now.
I still need to make 2 keyboard trays but that'll come.
Everything is coated in a few coats of Osmo oil. The desk slabs of fir were sanded to 220 grit. Once the oil dries in a week I'll put on a coat of beeswax +mineral oil I make myself.
Good shot of the joint. It's been put together with my newly acquired Festool Domino 500. Game changer. Wish I had picked one up sooner.
The two drawers have undermount full extension slides with the drawers made from ½ inch Baltic Birch plywood.
Soon the walls above will be plastered now that I have finished. You can see some below and on the right of the picture.
