The base sketch
My rugby coach had asked me to paint her aunts dog for her so she could ship it to Australia from Canada as a Christmas gift. This dog(black lab who happens to be a rescue) is her life, so I happily accepted and began sketching right away.
Transferring to canvas
This was a PAIN to do.. I kept messing up the anatomy as the original sketch I had done was so small and the canvas was so big ):

The final result(it's darker in person)
I'm only 16 so I have A LOT of schooling to go through to become better. I'm merely an amateur, so please don't be too harsh. I look forward to learning more about how to draw and paint better, though! I'd really like to improve on realism... I have a lot of practice to do!

Looks great to me, too! That's far more than I could have done when I am 16 and I make a living of my art now, so keep up the good work! :)

When you transfer your sketch to the canvas, use a grid to keep scale intact. Good work, OP! Keep on going!

I was thinking of doing that but I find it so hard to get the gray off of the canvas afterwards D: Thank you!

Try using a harder pencil, that should make the lines easier to cover up.

Oh, okay! Thanks so much :D I'll be sure to try that next time!
