really funny that one of the innovations was "what if we didn't paint it" because the white paint over the orange insulation was adding unnecessary weight. it feels like a no duh idea but it needed someone really smart to think outside the box to make the connection

It’s been a long road…

The sad thing is the rocket itself is very old tech; the boosters, engines, and main tank are from the Shuttle. The only thing “new” is the capsule. Yay politicians with the big corporate money. As a space nerd, it makes me sad to think what could have been.

50+ years...still smoke, fire and explosions - where are our black cool flying triangles ?

That's not the only new thing, but the rest isn't hardware. This is the first time a moon mission has used a gravity slingshot

Free return trajectories are quite common for moon missions.

Nah, the Flat Earthers are taking over, the Denialists are winning the non-science views. Over 60% of US citizens don't believe that Apollo 11 ever landed on the moon. Just as many won't believe that Artemis 2 had anyone on board at all. Morons...

No, that's not an accurate recollection of the Manhattan Institute data

Interesting, must have been supporters of the Orange Turd being polled in the one I saw... or maybe it was age related, the very young and very old disbelieving. Either way, Carl Sagan was right when he expressed disappointment in the US education system when discussing the failure of science to widely disprove the Flat Earth theorey. Why would that level of stupidity not extend to the moon landings?
