Since consumers have a price point they won't typically exceed (thanks, Kmart and Temu sweatshops), v.s.b. will be expected to internalise the fee.
See a lot of empty stores lately? No new family businesses? An increase in predatory, American-style franchises and big box stores? Brace for more of the same.
Note from your local, ethical artisan ;)
- this will push up prices overall, as vsb won't raise a $50 item to $51.477, or whatever. We'll round it to $52, or $55, along with everything else, because we can't afford to spend our lives in front of spreadsheets. And cash paying customers too will be penalised, despite their solidarity. So, in the end, the banks and bigtechbros still get their money, and everybody else pays more. See "unintended consequences'.
tip to fellow makers/vsb:
- raise prices by 1-5%, then offer a discount of 5-10% for cash. Big Utilities, ATO and Gov use the "It's not a fee for lateness, it's a discount for on-time payment!!!" tactic on our bills, so I guess they lowered the bar first. ergh. lemons>lemonade.

The banks being an amorphous blob of business ghouls is very accurate. Like the alien from The Thing.

slight insult to the parasitic alien tbh. It's just doing what's in its nature, poor thing. The banking/finance sector has agency, and reasoning...of a kind.
also thanks, gunna rewatch me some cronenberg this wknd. should go down well with the easter fam ;)

It is an engineered lifeform meant to merge with the biology of whatever planet it is sent to scour, and then devour everything. It's not some innocent creature just trying to survive. Much like the banking sector.
