In my youth, I'd wreck this. Unfortunately, due to the forced ejection of my gall bladder, I am unable to consume more than a nibble. I'd wreck that nibble, tho.
It's similar to this pizza pasta bake I made...this is pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, bowtie pasta, and homemade pizza sauce, topped with mozzarella and Parmesan.
Yup. Its just your average spaghetti and meat sauce topped with a lot of mozzarella and some thickly sliced pepperoni and then baked. Could I make all the ingredients from scratch? Sure. But, who has the time... Maybe one day....
1. Make spaghetti and meat sauce to your own liking. 2. Combine the spaghetti and meat sauce, and place it into an oven-proof dish. 3. Press it down firmly, and top it with more shredded mozzarella than you think is necessary or appropriate. Add sliced pepperoni if you like. 4. Bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit (or the Celsius equivalent.) 30-35 minutes 5. After baking, let it stand for 5-10 minutes. Cut into monstrously large servings and enjoy with your favorite garlic bread.
When I bake spaghetti, I usually am making 7 layer lasagna.
1 layer of cheese, 1 layer of creamed spinach, 1 layer of meat-and-bean chili, I layer of roasted squash, 1 layer of sausage-in-vodka sauce, 1 more layer of cheese.
I sometimes use Meat Sauce or Cincinnati Chili instead of Chili. I also have been known to use chicken and mushroom in béchamel sauce instead of sausage in vodka sauce depending on my mood. What I’m saying is it’s expandable, find your favorite layers.
Depending on my mood I change up the layers. I’ve been known to use creamed corn, crunchy fried bacon in beer-cheddar sauce, and even crab-jalapeño in Alfredo sauce as layers.

3 AM in Europe and no Italian to see. Let's see how the comment section will change once it's morning for them. Curiosity I'm all ears.

Italian-American food or dishes inspired by such are not true Italian food ... And I am ok with that.

Its ok. She's allowed to be wrong. 😀

That's what I told her, and that's why she's still around. ;-)

Reubens are more of a lunch thing in my experience.
Antininny
Yesterday I had three Reubens for dinner and last week I had one for breakfast. It seemed perfectly fine.
GetMeAReubenSandwich
Seems fine to me al well. No problem that I can see.
Raventhief
You have broken the lunch-dinner sandwich dichotomy! There will be consequences. Soon your desserts will be covered in pasta sauce.
Antininny
Don't be fresh with me, mister!
Raventhief
You'd prefer jarred pasta sauce?
