#10 I've been hit by a box jellyfish... Not THEE, but a Hawaiian cousin, and not even the main tentacle, but I guess some shedded stinger cells. Neurotoxin fucking SUUUUUUUUCKS. Tl;Dr: I can best describe it as electric shock, if you've touched a live wire before. US power is 110 volts at 60 hertz. ONE OFFCAST STINGER CELL felt like +800 volts. So imagine what the Aussie one feels like when it slaps you on the ass.

Not so ancient “remedy”. I think ‘Friends’ S04E01 (1997) might be the origin story.

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nope, I've been hearing since way before Friends began. It's a very old old wives' remedy.

This is what I want to be able to draw, and I hate that my sketches are always too stiff to bring casual moments to life

Keep practicing. Practice a lot, every day if you can. You'll get better.

5 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

art is suffering, as they say. But seriously, the only way to get better is to keep practicing, and learn from as many different artists as you can to find what works best for you

Makima constantly refers to Denji, the titular Chainsaw Man, as her puppy or obedient dog. Within the first season there are a lot of dog/master references, but with her it takes on a more intimate meaning since Denji is infatuated with her.

#9 I always love the details khyle. puts in the background. Like Izumi flailing in the pool in this one.

5 months ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

"This isn't about her."

5 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It also looks like someone may have had diarrhea in the pool in the middle background

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think that's the reflection of Senshi diving in to save Izumi.

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's what I guessed it was from but it's weird that the reflection is under him, when really it would if anything be between the viewer and him. It's like putting shadows the wrong way, just doesn't look quite right.

Not real either

5 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If you want to think that sure. But seeing that this is not the same setting as the anime... unless I missed a ep were they did this.... The characters drawn are at the discretion of the artist, there are so who take the dark path but many just remove or say everyone is 18+ in the first page to avoid legal issues.

okay look I understand it's a bad edgy joke, but it is also very clearly satire.
I'm not defending bad satire.
I am pointing out that it is at least definitely satire, as opposed to some much more problematic art/artists.

redditors when dark humour

5 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

I’d love to agree with you and laugh it off. If only the dark humor defense wasn’t so overused these days by bad faith actors. There’s a reason that a whole series of memes exist that are lampooning “dark humor mfs” that tweak out when the butt of a joke is a target with authority like cops, and not a disadvantaged group

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's not even that edgy. Everyone has made a "don't go to summer camp in Germany" joke at some point.
The punchline of #5 and #6 are that molesting people is funny, yet somehow nobody has a problem with that?

5 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 4

Within their artwork there's a pretty clear theme of Yuri and Natsuki having a weird relationship, but one Natsuki is an active part in. I wouldn't call it 'molestation' from this image alone. Her entire thing is being kinda mean to the people she likes after all.

As for the My Hero one, I think it's just too cartoonish in nature for me to think of it on that level :P
The creators literally went "We'll just make this character (almost) nude all the time".

5 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Call me naive but I also think it's not as bad as people insist. The setting of Spy x Family is clearly based on tensions between East/West Germany which was well after WW2. The students are all supposed to be from powerful, wealthy, and influential families. There's no shot they'd all be sent to Auschwitz while it was active. Therefore this reads to me like a school trip hence why Yor is dropping Anya off or acting as a chaperone. This also explains why it'd happen on Holocaust Remembrance Day.

5 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

What was this one all about again? I vaguely recall it being something bad

5 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Auschwitz.

5 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

"Arbeit macht frei" - "Work frees you", The slogan on the gate is NAZI propaganda from WWII

5 months ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Not just a slogan, this is Auschwitz's gate down to the detail of the buildings in the background.

5 months ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Yeah, that one was fucked up for sure, but gauging from the rest of their art, they seem more like the kind of dumbass that thinks the most fucked up jokes are the funniest ones, not some sort of cryptofascist turbo-racist or anything. Yeah, a line was absolutely crossed here, but their whole thing is ‘the longer you look the worse it gets’ sort of hidden details, not dogwhistles and outright bigotry. Disclaimer, I don’t follow their socials or anything, so I haven’t seen their other views there

5 months ago | Likes 59 Dislikes 2

Making Nazi jokes is the gateway to being Neo-Nazi.
Not saying it's the case for this artist in particular, but I've seen many people go down that path. Make Nazi joke, people boo them, neo-nazis applaud, and the person turns to their neo-nazi fans and fall further into the hole.

5 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

Pretty sure this one is from a while ago too, I follow them on Instagram and they haven’t made any jokes like this in years. Most of their stuff now is just loaded with sexual innuendo

5 months ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

It's def difficult to have a cogent conversation about what is and isn't a pattern of behavior, or who is and isn't remorseful, over social media. It just doesn't lend itself to that, as a medium. Still, it's a conversation worth having.

5 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

They've also made at least two illustrations about Trump which occupy a gray area between "I think it's funny to juxtapose Trump with anime girls" and "I like drawing Trump in a flattering way, but I threw in anime girls to maintain plausible deniability."
Seriously, for an artist who's style is usually defined by minute details that create a precise comedic interpretation, their illustrations of politicians don't seem to have an unambiguous "punchline."

5 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Straight up, every time people mention this artist, someone whips out that image and says "SEE THEY DID AN BAD"
And while it is definitely an bad, I have literally never seen *another* bad from them.
(Not saying it doesn't exist, just pointing out it's a little much imo to make that out to be their entire style/portfolio)

#3 This is exactly how it feels when you try and use an old massive hammer for the first time. The only thing stopping it is you, and trust me, you stop it poorly if it hits something solid

5 months ago | Likes 64 Dislikes 0

it is shockingly easy to make a catastrophic error with a maul.
I have also had great times with semi-questionable drills which will switch directions on a whim and provide similar experiences

5 months ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

The first time I used an impact drill it had an extension so you could grip with your other hand. That's the part that made me punch myself in the face

5 months ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

My dewalt drill almost broke my wrist. I was trying to enlarge a hole from like an inch and 1 1/8 to 1 1/4. I knew with a bit that big I shouldn't use a hand drill. Well the drill caught and twisted out of my hand. My wrist hurt for 3 days after. Next time I used a mag drill.

5 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Lesson learned, that's the important bit.. pun intended, always 😁

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There is a possibly apocryphal story told among construction workers: Guy on ladder drilling into joist puts big drill motor under his arm for more torque, bit grabs, slamming him into ceiling above and knocking over ladder, leaving him hanging from drill. If he lets off power, he falls, but pulling the trigger slams him back into the ceiling. He does this multiple times before finally dropping to the floor.

Neal Stephenson tells that story with himself and Milwaukee's Hole Hawg as an analogy for the Unix command line: it does what it's meant to when you tell it to, in this case to spin the bit relative to the body regardless of what's attached to each.

My experience is that the trick with heavy hammers is to let the hammer's mass do the work while you put your energy into aiming it.
