So yeah I guess I've been into those kinds of houses too, have to admit, such that you don't want to put even a single cheek anywhere. But generally found them to be rare, with most cat homes entirely pleasant.

#6 is Messi, a very famous cougar born in a Russian zoo with health issues. He's also smaller than others, but I'm not sure if he's explicitly a runt. He was sold to a petting zoo that was going to euthanize him.
The couple that bought him from the petting zoo pretty much plans their entire lives around him, because they can't simply leave him unattended at home.

Pretty sure it's the same couple that adopted Luna, a black panther from a similar background who was birthed in a circus and her mother abandoned her (also due to some health issues); big cat rescues are extraordinarily difficult because (usually) if they're born in captivity, they can't really be reintroduced into the wild. I don't know much more than that, but I *do* know it's a whole lot of work.
