So, I made a discord server. It's a relaxed environment where you can take/donate memes to the cause, play trivia twice a week, chat about lots of topics or about nothing at all. We also have Jack Box game night and are setting up movie night! Very laid back/relaxed vibe. Come hang with us.

I'm also on the imgcat server for updates & fun:

#13 My office's parking garage elevator had braille symbols.

4 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I mean, blind people also ride in cars. Worse case scenario, a blind person needs to navigate out of the garage, it's there. Also why they obviously don't drive, doesn't mean they can't forget something in the car they were driven in and need to navigate to get it.

Why is there a Norwegian plane looking like it's trying to reenact 9/11?

#4 our red cups are touristy like the Dutch wooden shoes.
except the Dutch won't ice you.

4 weeks ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

And as a dutchman, in reality you'll have hard time actually spotting any of us in those in most parts of this country. You can find keyrings with small ones, Delfts Blue, and other touristy versions everywhere, though.

The one redeeming feature clogs seem to have is that they’re durable. They look terribly uncomfortable and that they will fly off if you walk too quickly.

#23 Jack is off for the day. You might see him comeback later.

#17 I find it so ridiculous for some medicinal plants and fungi to be illegal

4 weeks ago | Likes 61 Dislikes 1

The only reason they are illegal is because they are too easily homegrown and the government can't collect tax on plants they don't know you have.

4 weeks ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 4

It's not even that, it was very explicitly an attempt to demonize the anti-war and civil rights movements in the 70's. Like, one of Nixon's advisors directly stated that in an interview. Lawmakers give a lot less of a shit about taxes than people think they do, modern governments don't actually run on tax dollars (taxes are effectively inflation control in modern economics), so it's not like bringing in more taxes actually benefits them.

4 weeks ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 3

Yes because political advisors always state the truth

#16 oh my god these are all terribly worded questions. I hate this so much, you monster

Nr 3 tickles me in the worst way. "There are 8 fish in the pond. 7 swam away". To where did they swim? The sky? A pond is a closed environment!

4 weeks ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

I mean .. sort of no? a miniature lake that forms within the flow of a small creek is technically a pond. I got a neighbour down the road that has a pond in the path of snowmelt/rainwater runoff and a spillway to keep the water level right. Ponds are not necessarily endorheic.

4 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Your neighbor feeding their pond with runoff is admittedly clever - in a way, it's similar to what a retention basin does. Or exactly like, if the water level being adjusted isn't the pond's. "a miniature lake that forms within the flow of a small creek" seems to me to just be part of the creek. Another word for that is a pool. Ponds AIUI are enclosed, but a creek pool (while slow-moving) still does move and does have access to the surrounding stream.

#13 theoretically if they had blind people using the candy machine, they could post a brail list of the items, and already having the brail on the keypad makes it that much easier.

4 weeks ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I think the reason there's braille on things like vending machines (and drive-up ATMs) is because a lot of times, blind people will have a friend or family member with them helping them. The friend/family will tell them what's in the machine and the number of what they want, and the blind person can put in their money and enter the number themselves if they want to.

Of course, posting a braille "menu" would also be nice, but it would have to be updated when items were out of stock.

4 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Every time they restocked the machine they would have to update the list, and if the maintenance guy can’t read braille that would be a problem.

4 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You can print a list in both brail and regular text. And then just keep the same items in the same spot.

4 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, good luck with that second one.
