So, I made a discord server. It's a relaxed environment where you can take/donate memes to the cause, play trivia twice a week, chat about lots of topics or about nothing at all. We also have Jack Box game night and are setting up movie night! Very laid back/relaxed vibe. Come hang with us.

#2 that's crazy work

#6 as beautiful of a moment as this is I’m not gonna lie, the three men doing the electric slide next would be epic.

#20 amazing little car!

first, show us your food, not your pillow & mattress stuffings... ...then, we'll repeat the wonderful Misters Paulsen & Yakko

This.

#7 Am I not supposed to do this at 53?!

3 weeks ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

I did this yesterday to the ATT lady at Costco.

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

#2 the endurance it takes to go at that pace for that long - absolutely incredible athleticism

3 weeks ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I once had the chance to see an Olympic gold medalist running against local athletes. It was worse than that.

#11 Hello, yes, I'd like to report a "catfish" scheme.

#23 Existential fatalist cotton candy art. Love it.

Still not convinced #20 isn't cake

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It is, it's all just really stale

3 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

#1 There is a reason why there are no international English restaurants...

3 weeks ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

There are English styled pubs that serve food. Pasties and stews mostly.

#22 where is this scene from?

3 weeks ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Futurama.

3 weeks ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

The Mist. I highly recommend, but this scene in particular hits like a truck. Stephen King says it improved on his original story.

3 weeks ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

#1 As a US resident, we really only make the list because we just decided to have everyone's food.

3 weeks ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

So did Britain. They just opted not to use it.

3 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

or, we did it better. The USA had chinese food restaraunts when britain was still trading opium for tea.

3 weeks ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Whoa whoa whoa. The US has a lot of great food invented here, like cheesecake, chocolate chip cookies, pizza with toppings, General Tso Chicken, Philly cheesesteak, Tex Mex... It only looks like we just decided to have everyone's good, in reality we decided to have everyone, and their food came with.

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Pohya and Banahas with buffalo meat is delicious.

3 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

#23 art you can eat? I'm all in

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

#3 literally me. Snow was all but gone, had some nice sunny days. Some were 50s. Even up to 60. And then poof, here's 3 feet of snow. And it's still snowing

3 weeks ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

It snowed all day here, it’s supposed to thunderstorm overnight. Then snow storm tomorrow, then rain the next day. In two days, a difference of 33C. Plans? What plans?

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I should be used to it living in the Midwest for 30 or so years. Nope every single year I'm mad.

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have basically the opposite here. 60s, then we hit 80. Back into the 60s, but on Thursday we're supposed to hit 90...

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

#22 sad as it was you still gotta admit the scene ended with a bang

3 weeks ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I found the scene absolutely hilarious. I saw the ending coming a mile away when their car broke down

3 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wouldn't call it "sad". Darkly ironic maybe.

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Completely different from the story, which ends on a mildly positive note. I read that King absolutely loved the change in tempo.

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But what's it from? Y'all can't just talk about a scene and not say what it's from for those who don't know https://media4.giphy.com/media/v1.Y2lkPWE1NzM3M2U1aTFyN3kxMG0zcmRuMzNudm1udGR6cDM2MXcweHUyejYwaTF6NW1rdCZlcD12MV9naWZzX3NlYXJjaCZjdD1n/uP781D6zVOdG0/200w.webp

#20 the economy used to bed so decent that people could afford to collect trinkets like this

3 weeks ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

I was caught off guard by the song. Haven't heard Tallulah i years.

3 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, but it's somehow mangled. -_-

3 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Trinket? no no, this is the car you can afford in the current economy.

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I can't afford that car...

#2 I didn't realize colleges were allowed to recruit gazelles now. Gaht damn.

3 weeks ago | Likes 64 Dislikes 0

You worded that nicely.

3 weeks ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

She had a hell of a stride on her.

3 weeks ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

As a former college athlete, sometimes you just get in the zone. Hard to explain for someone who hasn't experienced it, but I was midway through a race, and realized I felt great, and had way more in the tank than I figured I would. Upped the pace, and just absolutely rocketed to the front of the heat. Set a PB and a record, and when I finished, didn't actually feel fully spent. (I had been upper average most of my life in my sport, but this felt like I had found a new 'gear')

3 weeks ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Starting from that far behind might have been the psychological trigger that allowed her to maintain that pace (and ability too). Never underestimate the psychological effect of determination. If an athlete feels good, they can push beyond what their preset notions of a limit are, tapping into energy they didn't think they had. Watch as she passes the first person, and then focuses in on the race leader, probably thinking, 'I got one, let's get the next'.

#23 That man looks like he never slept ever since the children were born.

3 weeks ago | Likes 78 Dislikes 1

Maybe he'd get more sleep if he fermented to put the damn bowl on the machine. Or also helps to stop the motor when you add sugar if you aren't that good at it.

3 weeks ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

The story circulating is that someone told him he looked like a pedo when he was smiling and making stuff with his kids and from then on he wouldn't smile in his vids or stand too close to his kids while they're in the video. Of course it's the internet so who knows.

3 weeks ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

Wear a cool homemade shirt-
“Some1 told me I look like PDF when I smile,
I AM NOT in the Epstein Files”

None of that explains the hair

#1 to be fair, England has good Indian food

3 weeks ago | Likes 103 Dislikes 2

A lot of it was invented here.

3 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Best Indian food I EVER had was in York at a place called "Jaipur spice"

3 weeks ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

3 weeks ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Also, as a Canadian, aside from giving the artery WMD that is Poutine, what else have we produced to rank higher than England on a culinary scale? Because I am struggling to figure out what other dish is distinctly Canadian.

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Canadian here, almost any dish with maple syrup

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There is no factual basis here, just a centuries old internet meme. Parrot thing and receive applause from in group.

and CARIBBEAN ISN'T A COUNTRY!

3 weeks ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

their food is great though! ;)

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Neither is San Juan

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Wtf is she eating? It looks like a tortellini sandwich.

3 weeks ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

My english MIL makes crazy disgusting sandwiches like chips (sorry, crisps!) on margarine in soggy bread, or banana and cucumber (still with margarine)... Retching...

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

CHIP Butty, that's the fucker https://www.seriouseats.com/chip-butty-recipe-8605263

3 weeks ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

We call that "struggle food" in the states

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Banana and mayo sandwich? That's the best I got

3 weeks ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Banana and fluff?

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

She ain't claiming that one exclusively British.

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We eat that here in the US south

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think its called a butter butty. It's chips (steak fries in the US), butter, and bread.

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sounds awesome. Throw a little marinara sauce on it, and maybe a couple strips of bacon, and you've got a meal.

3 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's because of the large community of Indians, but to be fair, Gordon Ramsay exists, so the stereotype of shitty British cuisine doesn't hold up...

3 weeks ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 5

Sorry, I was not trying to be sarcastic, nor malicious...

3 weeks ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

My point being that there is an obvious influence from the Indian population that has inspired the British population, just as with any other city/nation with a large multicultural population. I only mentioned Gordon Ramsay as a notable example of Brits mastering the art of cooking, to illustrate the absurdity of the stereotype that Britain food is shit.

3 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I mean he first rose to fame on a show that highlighted bad restaurants in England so that's not the strongest point either (later seasons they came to the US).

3 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

True, but there are bad restaurants the world over, so that's not representative of the overall quality of restaurants in Briton. Television typically over exaggerate stories and events for ratings, plus it's a reality television show, so I take most of what is shown with a pinch of salt.

However, I was referring to his restaurants, not his television show, but I still get your point all the same.

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Gordon Ramsay is actually Scottish... He was born in Scotland, he just made his career in England.

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Crap how silly of me, his last name should have given me a clue, thanks for the info!

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hehehe, you are welcome. Have a good day, Meowy!

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As a fellow feline (Leo) Meoreowwow!

Translation: Thanks, and you have a great month! :^)

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It was probably accurate around war time, my grandparents were lucky to get meat, but general meal was meat and 2 veg, boiled to death. And Yorkshire pudding cos it was cheap. People were poor

3 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Hmm, I did not think of that, well, for myself I would not consider war time an accurate portrayal of British cuisine.

But yeah, I can see where some (The allies for example) might have got the impression that British food was shit, though the stereotype hasn't taken war/poverty into account, hence why stereotypes aren't accurate to reality.

3 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Totally. For context in the UK, war rationing ended 11 years after WW2, in 1956. That's 16 years+ without very little of them foreign spices or other luxuries. Including cooking oil and lard. Hence legendarily boiled blandness, for longer than most allied countries. Boiling food to buggery also helped take care of water that was often dirty, polluted, or otherwise less than ideal after bombs burst water and sewer mains, etc, etc. Last UK ww2 debt payments to US was in ..2015? iirc

3 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Wow, a decade + one of boiled food would be hell, it's another reason why I respect the UK, as war came to them, yet they endured.

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

#12 I get woken up pretty regularly by my flatmate blasting the TV, while also running a smoothie blender and a coffee machine. Fucking assault to my eardrums and mood every day.

3 weeks ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 0

A blender and coffee machine are fair game, but the tv is not. You can ask them to use headphone

3 weeks ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

The blender and coffee machine are right next to my room, and really fucking loud.

3 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That sucks. Have you tried sleeping with ear plugs? It takes a night or two to get used to it, but once you do you'll never wanna go back to open ears even when you're sleeping in a quiet environment.

3 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I have the autism double-whammy, where ear plugs are painful, and also don't block enough noise out.

Even with noise cancelling headphones, it's an almighty din that lasts for 4 minutes. Pretty much ruins my day from the start.

3 weeks ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

As someone with autism, and two diagnosed kids, you sound like you don't want a solution, you want to complain.

You can find other earplugs that are not painful.

You can relocate the machine.

You can make agreements about when not to use the machine.

You are determined to look at it in a negative light.

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Can the machine be relocated to not be on your shared wall?
