26 Imgur Creator Spotlight: @wesruv doodled this crazy raccoon!

Man Tax: Denzel Washington

“When I'm gone, people will no doubt remember me for Queen, but I would much rather be remembered for attempting to change the way we treat our fellow creatures.” - Brian May

So, I made a discord server. It's a relaxed environment where you can take/donate memes to the cause, play trivia twice a week, chat about lots of topics or about nothing at all. We also have Jack Box game night and are setting up movie night! Very laid back/relaxed vibe. Come hang with us.

I'm also on the imgcat server for updates & fun:

#19 why don't today's rich and powerful occupy themselves with shit like this instead of being fascists and pedophiles? This is a real failing on their part, in my opinion.

This quote feels a little off. Not like Arthur, or Ford, certainly not Zaphod. Sort of like a Vogon with some infinitesimally small self-awareness

"Hey, neighbour. I come from a long line of hunters dating back to Homo Erectus, over 2.5m years ago. While hunting has certainly changed over the years, I honour my ancestors by continuing this practice, stalking my prey in grocery aisles, carefully observing their best before dates, and capturing my prey with my wallet to proudly show my wife how I excel in food procurement, and subsequent preparation. Hopefully you can understand and respect my continued adherence to their time-honored ways."

There's also nothing wrong with paying attention to the sensitivities of other human beings. It is a polite request.

You know... don't be a dick.

Then please take your self righteous negativity elsewhere.

Found the vegan/ hoa admin / ‘neighborhood security member’

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I'm in my home, my house, my fucking castle if you will and I refuse to entertain your silliness in my space. Fuck off to your own space with your nonsense

1 week ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

As long as you keep the bothersome smoke, smells, fumes, noise, lights, yelling etc. *within the confines* of your castle.

The issue was exactly not doing so and purposefully letting the byproducts of private activities affect non-private spaces.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 8

I'll tel you what, when someone successfully sues burger king for their practice of advertising with smell then we'll reopen this discussion. Until then take your sad vegan ass somewhere else, I'm trying to eat in peace over here.

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I'm not a vegan, I'm just appalled at the level of illiteracy demonstrated in the comments.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

You are the jogger in this comment and a vast majority of people do not like your take on this. Imagine youre sitting on your porch and someone asks you to sit inside because they don't like people sitting on porches, and then try's to tell you to so research about why porch sitting is bad. Eat a bag of dicks.

1 week ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Sitting on one's porch isn't affecting public spaces in any discernible way.

Airing out the smell of whatever one decides to cook up (or in a neutral analogy, deciding to open the windows for a practice session of trumpetry) does.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 5

And if the person sitting on the porch has a horrible disfigurement, and the jogger objects because they shouldn't have to see that?

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Not really plausible (lighting, distance, just how long a look would a jogger take, and the analogy still won't stand - being visible is passive, being loud/smelling isn't).

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

My beliefs say that you...

1 week ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

They only asked to close the windows so others don't have to smell whatever's cooking.
It is polite to not dump the bothersome externalities of your daily life onto others.

You play the trumpet? Cool, but you should invest into some reasonable soundproofing, right?
You're in a step dance group? Cool, maybe don't practice at home if you have neighbors downstairs.

You cook meat? Cool, but if your neighbors are complaining, maybe consider doing it in your privacy, right?

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 27

That's some impressive mental gymnastics right there not seeing that playing the trumpet is clearly closer to not eating meats as a personal choice or belief system, and not the other way around. You're quite close to saying veganism is a disability that people should be mindful of. Please first be mindful of your own biases before asking others to be mindful of them.

1 week ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

People do things - they play the trumpet or cook meat (note that you deliberately moved the goalposts: we're talking about *cooking* meat in the open/with windows open). Opening the window/setting up the barbecue in the open is s personal choice that shouldn't affect others.

Being considerate of others means you keep the bothersome externalities (noise, smells, smoke) to yourself and especially avoiding conducting the activity in a way that maximizes affecting others.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 10

They could just as easily stay home with their windows closed if they don't want to smell people using their own kitchens and yards to prepare food.

Your dietry/religious/political beliefs do not dictate what someone else is allowed to cook in their own home.

1 week ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

They were exactly suggesting that - keeping meat cooking *to one's home* and not to *one's home plus the whole neighborhood*.

The person allowing their cooking to unnecessarily affect public spaces is the one stepping over private/public bounds, not the one who's politely suggesting everybody keeping to oneself.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 15

Exactly. They can close THEIR windows.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This whole thread is a big yikes. You can’t control other people’s normal behaviour in their own homes. Cooking is basic, lawful, everyday activity. If you don’t like the smell, adjust your own behaviour—go elsewhere or close your windows. Expecting others to change for you is entitlement. Politeness is optional and reciprocal—demanding accommodation for a personal preference isn’t polite.

1 week ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

"Please *CLOSE THE WINDOWS* when cooking meat"

This person wasn't asking to not cook meat - they only asked to cook it privately.

You can't close your windows in public spaces. The person cooking meat , on the other hand, can close *theirs*.

Should you close your windows when you practise playing the trumpet? Should you use a muffler? Learning music is a lawful activity and there are ear plugs... and it's *YOUR* window, so nobody's telling you when to close it bc FREEDUMBS, right?

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 24

So when did you become a vegan?

1 week ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I cook and eat meat.
I can also read and I understand how that irritates certain people.

When did you give up coming up with proper arguments relevant to the topic of discussion?
