Congolese children stuffed in bags are up for sale as “child labour” to the highest bidder.
An estimated 40,000 children work in the cobalt mines of the DRC.
Where is the outrage?

Old folks will remember “ No one cares about Africa”. Stopping U.S. Aid was bad on so many levels. Expect more suffering. Expect no action .

Every single one of those people should be strung up, upside down, and have their head lowered into an asian murder hornet nest and left there until dead.

I'm in the U.S., we've got billions for oil wars, but we don't even give a moments thought to a war to save children.

We are in a state of constant outrage

The US legal system approving of slavery for US tech companies. "In March 2024, a U.S. Court of Appeals ruled that Apple, Alphabet, Dell, Microsoft, and Tesla could not be held legally liable for child labor in their supply chains. The court determined that their relationship with suppliers was an "ordinary buyer-seller transaction" rather than a joint venture, and that they did not have the authority to control the mines." https://www.gicj.org/topics/thematic-issues/business-human-rights/3710 1

Federalist Society/Trump appointee replacing Kavanaugh on DC Circuit Judge Neomi Rao ruled that purchasing cobalt through supply chains did not constitute participation in a forced labor venture. https://www.naacpldf.org/naacp-publications/ldf-blog/neomi-rao-showed-us-college-believe/ "As a junior (at Yale), Neomi co-authored an editorial entitled, “Separate, But More Than Equal,” arguing against what she deemed, “special treatment for minority students.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neomi_Rao

I can't even get the government of _my_ country to stop treating children poorly. What am I possibly going to do about people in another country?

At least not look away, be aware, be tired but brutally awake to reality, resist loudly as others try to flee into dreamscapes. And never surrender, never give in, never get cynic and just accept.. Fight like glowing break-pad fights friction - even if it is used up in the process. Never fight in bursts that break you though..

Ok well one last video before bed then. The last video didn't really feel as doom-ey as this one....

I've heard of this. That being said, is there a source for the video?
user2000
If this is real, it's horrible (and there is a lot of that in this world). But today, I am more afraid of how fast "everyone" takes a 30-second video out of context, with no source, and just trusts it, making up stories about what is happening.
It could be some TikTok fake video for fun, AI, or just a prank.
And maybe it's real and even worse.
Anyway, I need some source before I can even think this is real.

Ask the billionaire owned media who love this because it makes Cobalt and other minerals cheaper for them. Where they focus more on trans people trying to exist, making up shit about them being in sports as the #1 priority.
SerialChickenLover
They’re probably trying to get people fixated on trans people to deflect from shit like this.
GlutenFreeCocaineWaffles
This is in fact the correct answer and not hyperbole; the continued exploitation of DRC keeps it destabilized and functionally operates like a giant mafia-run ghetto that doesn't benefit from the *insane* mineral wealth it has. Without foreign meddling, there is no reason they wouldn't be one of the richest and most developed nations in Africa, if not the world.
Clockworkdancerobot
and it makes the people of that country desperate enough to try shit like this. Anything to get ahead. They are a direct cause of this inhumanity.

How many vanished Gazan children have found their way to Saudi Arabia?
Omicron416
Bold of you to assume they weren't murdered en route by the IDF.

Every each of them COULD take revenge. So no, I think they dont take chances anymore. And the world is watching.

This makes my heart hurt.

It hit me that the very phone I’m holding in my hands has batteries made with cobalt that may have been mined by child slaves like these.
I’m gonna consider getting a Fairphone but it’s such a shame the new model kinda sucks… but it’s probably the only way to ensure it was made at least somewhat more ethically.

BerryButcher
You gonna need a lot of time and planes, they have similar shit in pakistan but it's not just children, it's just hundreds of bags full of random people you cannot see, you can buy dozen bags in bulk and see what u got later, use them whatever you want, sex slave, orgran harvesting, release, kill, torture, nobody cares.
Clockworkdancerobot
You'd do better to look higher up. The companies that demand cheap resources to keep making billions encourage poverty so they can exploit.
allenvasher3000
If you feel that is your best way of helping
Yeastlord749
I am mot so sure that is going on here...can anyone confirm? Source? This looks like it could be a joke or viral video thing.
MoopsyLD
you cant outright sell child labor i think so they put the child in bag so the authorities cant tell and they sell the bagged child for labor.

When people say the majority of humanity is good. Then why does this even exist?

They're just babies. This world... we've allowed it to become so evil for so long.

Am I watching a video of them being freed or bought?
thrashingmossdog
Being freed, those guys are likely cops
slimvictor
Damn I hope you are right
snowwhyyt
Hope those kids find the perfect nursing home for their parents.
ActionJohnnie
I see you are very familiar with the Congo nursing home situation.
ArchaeoEejit
You think those kids still have parents?
snowwhyyt
Kinda my point actually. Just worded sarcastically.
mksu
You should be more focused on blaming imperialism and capitalism for putting their parents in a situation where they have to make these kinds of choices.
snowwhyyt
If that was my sarcastic response to those children being put in bags.
slimvictor
@mksu you are absolutely correct. Thanks for pointing that out, it needs to be said clearly.

Why bag em? Serious question.

Because the authorities don't know whats in the bags so they cant do anything about it i guess.
ATLandNerdy
Don't be silly, they know, they know real good, they gotta make sure they get their cut.
MantisTobagganMD
Bold of you to assume most of their parents are alive. Some, maybe. But I would hazard to guess the majority are orphans. Orphans through the direct actions of the slavers?... who is to say.

hold on im just rereading this comment. where the hell did i even state anything about parents or anything else? like your comment makes no sense to mine

Very strange... I commented this on another comment, they replied, and I replied again. It seems imgur has fucked up somehow. I know for a fact I did not reply to your comment. Because, of course you're right, it makes zero sense!

You should focus just to the “everyone”.
99.99% of our sorrows come from humans.

I'd say 99% of the things I hate come from about 10% of the population, I bet the other 90% aren't that bad

God is either powerless to alter his kingdom, or indifferent to the suffering of his subjects. Between the two, he doesn’t sound like much of a god to me.
