Goatober: Goat Fact of the Day (30)

One more day left of Goatober! Don't worry, goats will continue to be awesome. Anywho, here's your Goat Fact of the Day!

Thor, the Norse god of thunder, has a chariot that is pulled by a pair of goats, Tanngrisnir and Tanngnjóstr ("teeth-barer" and "teeth-grinder" respectively). At night when he sets up camp, Thor eats the meat of the goats, but takes care that all of the bones remain whole. Then he wraps up the remains, and in the morning the goats come back to life to pull the chariot again.

One day Thor invited a farmer's son to share his meal. The boy broke one of the goats' leg bones to suck the marrow, and the animal's leg remained broken in the morning. The boy was forced to serve Thor as a servant to compensate for the damage (which, you know, is better than getting smashed by Mjölnir).

While the Marvel version of Thor generally uses his hammer to fly, the goats have made a few appearances in the comics.
