NE House District 2
Went for Trump in 2016
Flipped to Biden in 2020
In 2022 they gerrymandered the district to make it more rural.
last night it held for Harris. It may turn out to be the only flip from 2020 that Democrats held.
We tried.

Trump got 5 million less votes than 2020. Kamala got 16 million less than Biden. More than 1 million voted 3rd party. Fuck those 17 million>

Your number's are early. 10% of the vote is still expected. So will end up being about 150 vs 155 in 2020. We'll need to see how the last 10 breaks to see who to blame.

people in particular.

"they" gerrymandered it. You mean the GOP that was working through the steps of a plan a decade ago to ensure they got to redraw the maps?
laserfrog
A plan that was publically known and with no significant opposition raised? Same as decades old abortion bans left un-repealed?
license2kilt
It was absolutely opposed. But with the GOP holding a super majority in Nebraska’s one house legislature, there was very little that the Democrats could do to stop it. They did what they could. The initial proposal was even worse than what they ended up with.
laserfrog
it was a national plan, but dems consistently ignored or underfunded dwn ballot elections.

I figured the GOP was implied by “they”.
laserfrog
Yes, but I used that to point out that the gerrymandering was not out of nowhere nor a surprise, but a known and present threat which was ignored and left largely unoppoosed. This result was set in motion many years ago and still unaddressed.

It was neither ignored nor unopposed. The GOP holds a supermajority in the Nebraska legislature.
