i say "im-gur" (like growling) so it is "im-gur-ee-an" for me. I refuse to say "image-er" just as i refuse to accept .gif = "jif"

...you're 1/2 right. Imgur has a blog post on how it's "image-er" and .gif is pronounced "gif" with a hard g. As in graphics. Obviously.
