Apparently (I hadn't checked in a long time) RadioShack still exists as an online entity and they have few scattered stores that are authorized resellers... unfortunately the nearest one to me is over a hundred miles away and it's technically a Generac dealer/RadioShack.... (Mostly Generac)... Maybe there's one like the OPs nearby... for folks who miss RadioShack... https://www.radioshack.com/locations
At Ft. Gordon in 2002 we were going to show a piece of satcom equipment to the head of the Army signal corp.. There was too much noise in the system so it was off to RS to buy a double hand full of capacitors and capped everything that even hinted like it was leaking. Doing that in the middle of the night, in the middle of a field, under a tarp in a Georgia thunderstorm. Damn I miss working.
Sadly, wouldn’t have helped. Because they pivoted too hard to passive income from cell phones. Once the iPhone rolled out and was an AT&T exclusive for the first few years, the writing was on the wall. They abandoned the tinkerer and maker spaces as soon as they could. Source: worked there during the cell phone “boom.”
Most of the stores that I've seen on RadioShack's website list the locations as "Authorized Resellers"... The one in Cape Coral is also listed as such... if their website is any indication, they are mostly just computer accessories, cables, batteries and various small electronics at this point... the website doesn't sell any electronic bits and pieces like in the old days... which is a shame because there are really very few stores for builders or repairers.

Are you in the monthly battery club?

$9.99 to crack open a key fob and replace a 50c battery. Seems about right for Radio Shack.

My 30ish yr old RadioShack Leatherman squirt. Closed up, it fits in that little pocket next to my big pocket

What is the round thing next to it? Don't you have any bananas?

If only Radio Shack had stuck around longer, they'd have been right near the center of the makerspace and arduino and 3D print boom.

They were there, it didn't help. I bought my first Arduino (a Mega 2560) at Radio Shack.

Do you think they'll fix my TRS-80? It's been a little buggy the last decade or two.

No but they'll try to sell you a predatory cell phone plan... basically all they did in their last few years.

Wow. It's open and licensed?
