Saudi Arabia flew its investment summit to Miami Beach so Donald Trump could keynote it on his way to yet another extended weekend at Mar-a-Lago.

Thirteen American troops are dead. Over 300 have been wounded. Gas is up a dollar a gallon and the reasons for starting the war keep changing as fast as the deadlines for ending it. And the country that benefits most from all of it brought its sovereign wealth fund to South Florida, right after Ramadan, with Jared Kushner on stage and Trump bragging that the Saudi crown prince "didn't think he would be kissing my ass." The man who ordered a journalist's dismemberment doesn't let himself be publicly humiliated unless it's worth it. The Saudis knew exactly what they were doing.

Billionaires find common ground in places none of us will ever see. Elon Musk, who told the world last year that Donald Trump's name was in the Epstein files, sat in on a phone call this week between Trump and India's prime minister about the Iran war and the Strait of Hormuz. Only the richest of the rich buy access, and they're doing it openly. They don't care if you know or what you think about it. Saturday, in over 3,100 events across all 50 states, tell them there are no kings. Find a way to participate at nokings.org.

#11 should result in multiple people going behind bars...but ofc nothing will happen because our courts basically have no bite anymore.

Agreed

Yep. Sure sounds like a whole lot of "We're not even going to pretend to listen to courts anymore, we won't bother even trying to pretend like we're doing things legally, King Dump's word is now law, not 'judges'."

Read #6's article today. When so much of America can barely read, it's just too easy to spread misinformation and miscommunication. I'm not a lawyer but if someone takes my money and lies to me, isn't that fraud? It's very revealing, as to the state of our democracy, that our "representatives" lie to us with seeming impunity.

These horrible places are often free for patients and underwritten by arch-conservative groups. I've analyzed their ads in the past for work and they are absolutely deceptive, but the free piece is (usually) accurate.

Top story is dissent!? How interesting! And 4# is just another reminder of what a classless oafish bully this president is.

Tiny cat being small. Thanks as always for your hard work!

#6 The wording is terrible and confusing.

"Kansas Legislature to exempt pregnancy resource centers from rules governing what medical information they can provide overruling governors veto." Is more clear about the fact the governor vetoed the exemption, and Kansas's lawmakers want to let non-medical facilities lie to people about medical information.

Free speech doesn't protect fraud.

Thank you! I was looking for this. Crisis Centers are terrible places that try to force desperate women to give birth by lying to them until it's too late for them to seek abortion services. THEY DO NOT PROVIDE SUPPORT!

The KS governor tried to veto a bill that exempted them from having to provide accurate medical info to patients. The bill is also setting it up so that these Centers can sue people and the gov't.

"The pregnancy center autonomy and rights of expression act, or CARE Act, also makes it easier for centers to file lawsuits against any individual or governing entity that violates the CARE Act, if it were to become law. The bill allows state legislators to intervene in any CARE Act lawsuit."

Well, the Centers can sue people and groups, AND the Republican gov't of KS can sue with them. It's really questionable and incredibly suspicious (blatantly fascist).

#2 am I correct in my knowledge that Musk currently is just a private citizen?

2 weeks ago | Likes 51 Dislikes 1

Technically, I don't think he was ever anything else. But yes, he isn't elected or appointed to anything in the government.

2 weeks ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 0

Always had been. It's just he's rich and owns a media platform so he has the republicans putting up with him in a sort of quid pro quo until it's time to start throwing more people under the bus

2 weeks ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 1

He was the head of a government department for a period

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The claim is that technically he wasn't and they pinned it on some lady, who found out while she was on vacation if I recall correctly. So yes, he was the head of a department which doesn't officially exist and thus was always a private citizen.
