This time America is fighting the holy war.
Animus toward Iran runs back to the 1979 hostage crisis and the events that shaped a generation of neocons and worse. Now those grievances have an outlet, and the people running this war have stopped pretending it isn't personal. Asked to rate the war on a scale of ten, Trump told White House reporters Wednesday "about a 15."
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has the Crusader symbol of the medieval Kingdom of Jerusalem tattooed on his chest. A nonprofit watchdog has received complaints from more than 200 service members alleging their commanders are invoking biblical end times to justify the war. One NCO said a superior told troops that Trump "has been anointed by Jesus to light the signal fire in Iran to cause Armageddon." House Speaker Mike Johnson called Islam "a misguided religion" today while defending strikes that killed 165 children in a girls' school.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis designated the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the country's largest Muslim civil rights organization, a terrorist group before the first bomb fell. A federal judge blocked him this week. Bear witness to what this is. Name it in the circles around you. Don't let anyone call it something else.

Don't worry guys, if y'all keep marching around with signs and yelling slogans, the madness will totally stop. Maybe you should stomp your feet as you march, this will let the evil.people know you are super serious.

Jesus tap-dancing Christ. These are some wild stories, but Johnson can kindly take a long walk off of a shirt pier. He's no McConnell, yet, but he's definitely more destructive than Paul Ryan. As always, thanks @OP, you filter through all of the filler for the important stories! 😄
DidCatchABreak
Thank you, George

"In ten days they'd nuked 10,000 years of human progress into dust" People really are following the leadership of a psychopath.

It's been a hell of a week. Glad I get the emails to keep me informed, because I haven't touched imgur. Thank you as always for your service, OP. Enjoy this baby princess doing rear paw cuddles on her favorite human.
GeorgeBounacos
Aww, I'm going to look like this during the afternoon when I knock off early!
floofnmeeps
That's a lot.

A little late but an interesting read.. https://www.politico.eu/article/media-stop-normalize-far-right/ people like @op are frontline fighters against what this article discusses
GeorgeBounacos
Great read, thanks. Honestly, I do feel that's part of why I do what I do. And I've had people in multiple places tell me that they use to at least broach topics with family members and friends. That's why you see me use multiple sources every day and provide direct links. It's an information war as much as it is anything.
PuzzledCompletely
Thank you! Here's Indy on his way to support AFSP.

awww, you go pupper -- way to give back!

#18 Self-immolation?! JFC that f*cking Senator should not even be able to get out of bed due to the guilt he feels. what a POS. Should have been removed immediately. I cannot deal with the complete and total psychopath level of lack of empathy. These people are sociopaths, as bad as any serial killer.
GeorgeBounacos
He finally dropped from the race today.
1stDrunkJoe
#3 The Senator saw a chance after the 4th officer had piled onto Sergeant McGinnis to be violent without endangering himself. He broke that Marine's arm, tibia and fibula, with the door.
GeorgeBounacos
The video is horrifying in its cruelty
1stDrunkJoe
My first thought was AI because of how viscerally sickened and enraged I felt. Dark times, thank you for the illumination.

#3 A USMC vet, and they broke his hand in the doorway. Three to four people were trying to remove him. Semper Fi.
#9 should be a criminal trial. That is election fraud.
Rakoth
Wasn't it his forearm that broke?
sauronater
I'm honestly not sure, tbh
Jmarie453
The 'military watchdog story' has apparently not been vetted by anyone yet, although it has spread like wildfire.
It's absolutely believable which is why I think no one asked for proof, but it may not be entirely true.
https://www.friendlyatheist.com/p/before-you-share-that-story-about
Regardless of the merit of this particular story, our country is still being run by religious zealots hiding behind crosses for their own personal gain and vendettas.
GeorgeBounacos
Fair. I think it was more of me tacking it on to the Hegseth and Johnson parts of this story. The Speaker of the House saying that about Islam to defend bombing blew my mind. I kept writing myself into a corner about the crusades and probably jumped on the story too early.
Jmarie453
Not at all!
I jumped onto the story too because it was so believable and texted it to a bunch of people.
I even googled first and it looked legit since there was nothing about it not being true.
Literally found the debunk article the morning you posted.
You do so much for so little in return, it's OUR job to find stuff like that so I posted it to try and be helpful.
I'll never attack you, George. You may not wear a cape, but you are a real life hero! :)
Sebastopol140
The fucking mayhem they managed to create in a little more than one year... damnit!
mjperk
All I can think of is that even if (and that's a BIG if) we manage to get out of this mess somehow, the damage and fallout from it will last decades or more. Easily longer than the rest of my life. I suppose it's not healthy to ruminate on the "what ifs" like what my future could have been like had Orange Shitler never assumed control, yet I can't help but to confidently feel like a better way of life is now out of the picture. Fuck that is depressing. I guess I'll try to survive out of spite.
boxbackknitties
I remain hopeful that we can get this clownshow administration out, hopefully charged and convicted top to bottom on any litany of charges from epstein related charges to war crimes, dirty business deals....no need to list all of the crimes, and it's exhausting to think about. If we can't recover in my lifetime, fine, but I want things to be better for my kids....all of our kids. No one with 1/2 a clue supports these ghouls. Tax the billionaires out of existence and give us healthcare, educ, etc
IAmGmork
#17 CBS conveniently left out “Holy War” as an option for their poll on what Americans think Trump’s goal is for the Iranian war.
GeorgeBounacos
I'm laughing, but to be honest CBS has almost crossed the chasm for me in terms of bias by omission.
friendsofsandwiches
and epstein unredacted files still aren't released.
good god, every day just keeps getting worse and worse.
And we think it can't get any worse, then it's a new day.
GeorgeBounacos
Read today's -- several of the interview files where a woman accuses Trump of sexual assault are now out.
friendsofsandwiches
yeah...THAT'LL put him away! WOO HOO! He's TOAST NOW!!!

#11 - and those importers are going to then refund the consumers, right?
GeorgeBounacos
It's the most bizarre thing. I keep looking at this and wondering if consumers financed one of the biggest stock buybacks in history.
reurra
The common face behind all this shit is pootin. Hes been visiting with chump, numptyahoo, poohbear, mini-pooh from NK and leaders of other countries. Not sure whats going on, but this crap, like headline #2 sure reeks of his game play.

I would argue that it is oil behind all of this. Netanyahu wants the oil under Gaza/off shore, and control of Iran's oil. Since Isreal is just an extension of America we are by extension behind all of this as well. Putin is having meetings because oil affects him too, so discussions must be had. I would argue putin doesn't hold the reigns over Trump anymore. He's become wealthy through corruption and no longer needs him, that said I'm sure they still plot together.
Daliena06
Netanyahu wants to stay out of prison, and for that he needs forever wars because "this isn't the time to break the government, we must have strong leadership!", and his religious zealot coalition partners demand genocide or they'll stop supporting him, his government will fall apart and suddenly he'll be open to prosecution again.
thinkybrainpains
Hi, Iranian-American USAF Veteran here: animals towards Iran began long before the 1979 hostage incident. 8/19/1953 the USA and UK overthrew Iran’s democratically elected Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadeg when he pledged to nationalize their oil production to enrich the Iranian people, pitting him against the American oil companies. The USA then installed a King, the Shah of Pahlavi dynasty, who was their puppet to open the oil reserves to USA/UK interests. He modernized Iran but was also…

For anyone who wants some receipts. The UK "helped" too, but yeah, the US did a lot of heavy lifting in making sure that things would go to shit. And of course coated it in a layer of cold-war "we gotta depose him or else he's gonna turn commie!" bullshit.
thinkybrainpains
you are right...the same old lies are used for cover with every war! when the US suddenly becomes concerned by how brown people or women and girls are being oppressed or treated in other nations, just go check with natural resources are in that nation and you'll know the REAL reason for the sudden concern. "Their leader is killing them so let's bomb the fuck out of them to help them!"
SchuKadaj
I told this to someone recently and they said "that's a lie" and I'm sitting there like... brother you guys have literally started everything in recent times. crackers on a stick are more knowledgeable.
thinkybrainpains
They can choose to deny reality all they want, but it doesn't change TRUTH. The real problem is that these fuckers congregate on platforms that feed them confirmation bias via bullshit via algorithms in their "safe from truth" spaces. Before the internet we would just tell them they were idiots and they would shut the fuck up and leave. NOW they run back to their safe spaces and revel in their chosen ignorance while they convince themselves they are the majority.
ladyjigglebutt
They don't convince themselves that they're the majority. They convince themselves that they're a heavily persecuted elite minority so they can jack off to their martyr complex.
thinkybrainpains
a brutal dictator who tortured, killed, and imprisoned dissidents using his own secretive police force, Savak. He enriched himself and his cronies during his reign. The gap between the rich and poor in Iran became tremendous, which set the foundation for the revolution. The embassy was taken over because the CIA, responsible for the coup against Mossadeg, operated out of that embassy. Iranian people do NOT want war with the West. A diaspora of more than 4 million Iranians left the homeland and
thinkybrainpains
..Also do not want war with the USA. Iranians want freedom, but it is highly unlikely it will be achieved by this war. The Iranian people are suffering from extreme poverty under a vicious theocracy. I implore my fellow Americans to understand that we have more in common with everyday Iran people than we do with American billionaires. Our struggles are similar and all of us simply want a better world for our children. Billionaires and politicians greedy for power and $ hurt all of us equally.
MostlyAngryButNiceAboutIt
This. A billion percent this.

Would you create a post with this information if you have not already? I would like to share it for awareness purposes. Unfortunately, like many things with the US, we are not aware of history, the REAL history. Because we are unaware, misinformation and propaganda spread like wildfire - and that is what the US government wants: an ignorant population

Well said. Btw, not to defend Iran's dictatorial regime, but the primary reason for the rising poverty and shrinking middle class in Iran are the sanctions that the international community has imposed at the behest of the US. Mostly out of spite because just like Mosaddegh, the ayatollah refused to kowtow to the American oil hegemony. See also Cuba's US-manufactured economic crisis and the contribution of US-led sanctions to the collapse of the former Eastern Bloc. Among other economic warfare.
thinkybrainpains
Indeed. This is all correct and this Oil-Empire building won't help anyone but the rich people on the backs of the rest of us.
thinkybrainpains
Thank you @OP for all you are doing. You know I’ve supported you from the beginning. What you do everyday allows chaos-weary people to live their lives but ALSO stay informed at the same time. Your efforts are truly heroic and represent true dissidence against a threat to our democracy. Thank YOU for your service to our nation.

It's not enough we fuck our own shit up, we then have to fuck other people's shit up.
Oh but hey, at least the biden admin was punished for Gaza.

A select handful of the populace fucks things up for everyone.

brooooo I hate the unfortunate reality of that poetry.
