Donald Trump threw a war and none of our friends came.

With the entitlement of a petulant child, the president spent more than a year threatening and belittling America's traditional allies while publicly mocking their war dead. When the UK offered to help last week, he told them we didn't need anyone.

Days later, with the Strait of Hormuz closed and oil above $95 a barrel, he asked every ally America has to send warships. Germany, France, Japan, South Korea, and the entire European Union all said the same thing in different languages: this is not our war, we didn't start it, and you didn't even consult us.

Today he bravely posed for reporters and said the U.S. didn't need them anyway, although he did mention a couple of minesweepers would have been nice. The Navy decommissioned its last minesweepers in the Persian Gulf six weeks before the war started. They're sitting in a shipyard in Philadelphia.

#9 btw considering this was quite literally my job with Amazon I wanna let you know that the DDU process within Amazon processes the majority of it's packages and the AMZL network is neither equipped nor capable of managing this much adjustment to flow. So theres a few likely outcomes here, first is UPS Mail Innovations injection (which is to say, indirectly injecting to the DDU process as Mail Innovations is UPS' DDU process), actually bringing FedEx back as a carrier, or significantly

extending wait times for all non prime prime-time packages. AMZL cannot scale this fast, and if they try to their cost of network operations will spike significantly most likely resulting in a spike to sales cost or prioritzation of drop shipped packages from outside network. Especially to remote locations like the Mid West, Alaska, and Hawaii (Alaska and Hawaii are 3p operations, Amazon does contract them but they are not direct employees) The majority of folk impacted will also be trump

supporters.

This includes the scaling of their LTL, RSR (Rural Super Rural, not Walmart RSR), and Wagon Wheel operations for shipping. I guarantee you that ATS-ABTN (or whatever tf they've rebranded to now) is panicking with this announcement.

We have family in a rural section of a Plains State, and they see Amazon vehicles, but with nowhere near the frequency my suburban enclave outside a major metro does.

I know they dumped a ton of money in rural logistics, but I wondered if it was enough, and as you pointed, what the timeline to scale would look like.

I'm 100% with you. I just wanted to assure you that I got it. The categories are tricky because I have to assign a primary to get this to function well, and sometimes the multiple category ones aren't crystal clear. But the great news is that we're only a couple of days away from launching the Good Government News or whatever it ends up being called section. It's a place to concentrate when government (usually state or local) does something great.
