Donald Trump threw a war and none of our friends came.
With the entitlement of a petulant child, the president spent more than a year threatening and belittling America's traditional allies while publicly mocking their war dead. When the UK offered to help last week, he told them we didn't need anyone.
Days later, with the Strait of Hormuz closed and oil above $95 a barrel, he asked every ally America has to send warships. Germany, France, Japan, South Korea, and the entire European Union all said the same thing in different languages: this is not our war, we didn't start it, and you didn't even consult us.
Today he bravely posed for reporters and said the U.S. didn't need them anyway, although he did mention a couple of minesweepers would have been nice. The Navy decommissioned its last minesweepers in the Persian Gulf six weeks before the war started. They're sitting in a shipyard in Philadelphia.
Fourteen months of "America First" bought America exactly what it paid for. And today, the drumbeats about Cuba echoed the ones we heard about Venezuela and Iran. Only Congress can stop this. Get on the phone and into your email and make sure that they do.

"trump threw a war and none of our friends came".
You don't have friends anymore. And you won't for decades.

#9 and #15 win today's game of what could be the most horrific thing our government is doing. And trust me, the competition was/is stiff. Don't assume that the Post is protected by the constitution. Bezo$ has beem extremely clear he wants total monopoly and has been after since he created the Amazon Pac.

#7 my Florida "representative" is guilty of Medicare fraud. This seems very too little, too late. Also, the lying and hypocrisy are startlingly obvious
GeorgeBounacos
One of your Florida senators set the record for it! :)

#9 #15 Remember that Section 8 of the Constitution literally mentions the Post Office as a federal responsibility.
Bundalicious
The USA constitution? You mean the piece of paper Krasnov wipes his poopy butt with on a daily basis. He is above the constitution and citizens are allowing it. Nobody will stop him.
chewmaca2
And it will absolutely go under if its privatized by him. Except he'll pout and cry, and commit more federal crimes by stripping every other delivery company of their abilities to carry most packages and make the U.S.P.S. even more of a monopoly that we can no longer afford along with everything else he's fucked up
Etherealvalentine
Yes!
gonzar09
He's deluded if he thinks the post office can be privatized. No one other than the USPS has the infrastructure in place to hit every last home in America, and they don't want to put in the money to do so because it would be a logistical and financial nightmare to do that.
thedarklord187
Have you seen *gestures broadly * at everything he's been doing he doesn't care if it's possible or not he will do it and nobody will stand up to him and then the us will be without a structured functional postal service

#11 the whitehouse is already demolished so not like that can magicall come back. he is also building a ballroom in doonbeg golf club in ireland
PuzzledCompletely
We can't keep letting him destroy things, and then say it is already ruined so he has to keep going. No, we'll never get back what he destroyed, but that is not a reason to give him what he wants.
GeorgeBounacos
Agreed. You don't need a ballroom that is larger than the White House itself. You just need to rebuild that office and other space you destroyed!
xSicarriix
Maybe I missed it but has the administration said why they're strangling Cuba? Im sure it'll be a total bs reason but I want to know what their reason is besides "uhh because we can"
Kotarisu
The United States has been butt-hurt over Cuba refusing to be annexed after the American-Spanish War, is pretty much the only reason.
yalczero
Easy, destroy Cuba's infrastructure and ability to support itself then deport all the Cubans back there and then do nothing about the government in charge.
DukePhelan
Marco Rubio hates the government of Cuba for personal reasons and trump wants to build resorts on their coasts. That's it that is the whole reason.
epicfail48
Because trump rapes children
TheWombatStrikesAgain
Dictatorship, oppresses their own people, bad governance, dying economy... you know, the typical glass house stuff.
FlaccidHamster
what do you mean? We have had a full on embargo of cuba since Kennedy
xSicarriix
I mean like the reasoning (lie) they would have told the press. More or less a curiosity
FlaccidHamster
Most likely they will just say Cuba has been an issue since the 60s, we have had an embargo on them 60 years for a reason. No other president has had the nuts to fix Cuba for the people. Tonight we liberate them with fire.
TheWombatStrikesAgain
#2 He doesn't mean that. He'd never add a state full of brown people to the US. Unless he has some plans to get rid of the people first.
GeorgeBounacos
100% where I meant immediately upon seeing that. Non-white native Spanish speakers isn't on his dance card.

As premature as a trump or Bush "victory"...

#9 btw considering this was quite literally my job with Amazon I wanna let you know that the DDU process within Amazon processes the majority of it's packages and the AMZL network is neither equipped nor capable of managing this much adjustment to flow. So theres a few likely outcomes here, first is UPS Mail Innovations injection (which is to say, indirectly injecting to the DDU process as Mail Innovations is UPS' DDU process), actually bringing FedEx back as a carrier, or significantly
Ulthirm
extending wait times for all non prime prime-time packages. AMZL cannot scale this fast, and if they try to their cost of network operations will spike significantly most likely resulting in a spike to sales cost or prioritzation of drop shipped packages from outside network. Especially to remote locations like the Mid West, Alaska, and Hawaii (Alaska and Hawaii are 3p operations, Amazon does contract them but they are not direct employees) The majority of folk impacted will also be trump
Ulthirm
supporters.
Ulthirm
This includes the scaling of their LTL, RSR (Rural Super Rural, not Walmart RSR), and Wagon Wheel operations for shipping. I guarantee you that ATS-ABTN (or whatever tf they've rebranded to now) is panicking with this announcement.
GeorgeBounacos
I really appreciate your perspective. Thanks for adding it!
We have family in a rural section of a Plains State, and they see Amazon vehicles, but with nowhere near the frequency my suburban enclave outside a major metro does.
GeorgeBounacos
I know they dumped a ton of money in rural logistics, but I wondered if it was enough, and as you pointed, what the timeline to scale would look like.

#13 Should be under Fighting Back.
GeorgeBounacos
It is as a subcategory - can see stuff like that on the web. I can't add the subcategories and tags in this kind of display.
spittytrinkles
Sir George. I didn't mean to imply, I was just happy 'bout it!
GeorgeBounacos
I'm 100% with you. I just wanted to assure you that I got it. The categories are tricky because I have to assign a primary to get this to function well, and sometimes the multiple category ones aren't crystal clear. But the great news is that we're only a couple of days away from launching the Good Government News or whatever it ends up being called section. It's a place to concentrate when government (usually state or local) does something great.
spittytrinkles
Thank You for putting up with me.

Stop it. š
