ICE took another step tonight toward becoming Donald Trump's personal army.

He tried this in 2020. Federal agents in unmarked vans grabbed protesters off the streets of Portland because the military wouldn't do it for him. So in this administration, he went around that roadblock. ICE agents don't have the same institutional limits as the military. They've been recruited with massive bonuses, they answer only to his loyalists, and not once in 14 months have they refused a single directive.

More than 400 TSA officers have quit during a five-week DHS shutdown. ICE is now deploying to airports for crowd control, staffing the security checkpoints the president emptied when he broke the agency that was supposed to be there.

500 views?! I know we're feeling news fatigue as a society but 500 is crazy. Imgur is not what it once was.

Vera apparently enjoys rubbing her face in a pile of bird seed. Photo taken during video attempt.

#1 Reminder: That's gotten a lot of (very accurate) calling out as a war crime when Russia has been doing it, because it's destroying civilian infrastructure to try and force a government to surrender.

Imagine how your life would be without power. No lights, trouble cooking, trouble storing food, gas pumps don't work without electricity, phones or internet (for that matter to keep in touch with family amid a vicious bombing campaign), hospitals unable to keep machines running to help injured..

How long before someone dies at an airport because of Ice shooting?

2 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You can use salt to melt ice, but if we've being honest the fastest way to get rid of a whole lot of it (if you don't mind collateral damage) is going to be a flamethrower.

Welp, there it is, his personal, unvetted, and unqualified army poised to take control of critical transportation infrastructure (crowd control, yeah, sure) and his law enforcement/governmental representation seizing voting results when they don't fit their own expectations. While in yet another war.

I'm sure these are all just distractions from the Epstein Files we already know contain heinous shit about him and not just the final stages of permanent takeover. But, sure, we got him pegged.

He figured out that distractions are not needed if he makes them irrelevant. Or one of the cronies did.

when Federal Agents like ICE have a lower threshold for deadly use of force than the US Military and have no accountability, they are literally the private military force of the US President deployed against the US citizens. This is not a partisan issue. This is anti-American. As a military veteran, my observation of current ICE behavior is that terrorizing the civilians is the mission BECAUSE there has been no accountability to prove that it is NOT the mission.

You know who else's military strategy is "bomb the civilian power infrastructure?" That's right. Trump's primary advisor, and outright owner. Putin.

At lease when they lose their tempers against people in line at an airport, there will be ample footage from security cameras. I just hope they don’t pretend they have the right to pat people down themselves or else they’re going to start “detaining” every hot chick they want to grope.

A short list today. It's only *a little* bleak!

I'm sorry, TWO Democrats voted to allow Mullins in?

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well, one and Fetterman.

2 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

#4. I hope the Dems resist "for as long as it takes".

2 weeks ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 0

They won't they are spineless cowards this all only ends in violent revolt mark my words , I hope I'm wrong but history says otherwise.

Last time we needed them to hold on they folded like a lawn chair for a pinky promise that was immediately broken. I'm not holding my breath.

Do not accept changes to voting by fascists, period.

2 weeks ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

I'm moreso concerned with how this comes across as "we will terrorize people until you give in to our demands."

This is one of those moments that all Dems should remember. Anyone who concedes needs to be primaried ASAP. Make them remember that they work for us, and we can remove them if needed.

American voters have such a short term memory that... I doubt it'll happen. But we NEED old school corporate Dems gone and replaced with younger people who aren't owned by oligarchs or AIPAC.

#6 Ironic to call Columbus an "American" hero when the continent is named literally after Amerigo Vespucci...

2 weeks ago | Likes 114 Dislikes 0

He started the American child sex slave trade, so he is an absolute hero in magats eyes.

2 weeks ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Came here to say this.

2 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And the fact that Columbus never stepped foot on continental North America

2 weeks ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

And I'm fairly certain those ships he came over on had some pretty Spanish names.

2 weeks ago | Likes 53 Dislikes 0

No, Santa and Maria is English. They're in the bible. /s

2 weeks ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yep, he was financed by Spain. He was wrong about the road to go, lost himself, believed the places he "discovered" were Asia, was discredited for his violent actions against the natives (see the Bobadilla's report or wikipedia)... and this is only the first layer. Then, how the fuck can enyone define him "american", I can't even begin to understand.

2 weeks ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 0

He never even set foot on (future) US soil.

2 weeks ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Seriously, Columbus was such a POS the *other colonialists* thought he went too far. That's impressive af when the other native killing piles of shit think you're too shitty.

2 weeks ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

You answered your own question "violent action against the natives"

2 weeks ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

You've got a point here.
