The Trump administration filed an emergency motion Friday night to save its $400 million ballroom.
The administration's lawyers told a federal appeals court that halting construction was "shocking" and warned that canvas tents on the grounds are vulnerable to missiles and drones. "Time is of the essence!" they wrote, with the exclamation point, in a brief about a ballroom.
The canvas tents are there because the administration tore down the historic East Wing and turned the White House grounds into a construction site. The security risk they cited is one they built with their own bulldozers, and the last time a foreign enemy struck the White House was 1814.
The Bush-appointed judge who stopped the project had already reviewed the classified security evidence and found no such risk. He reminded the president that he is the steward of the White House, not its owner. Call your representatives through Resistbot and 5 Calls and tell them the government just defined what it considers an emergency, and it's a ballroom.

#1 donny boy still issuing threats?
What's he gonna do, bomb another primary school? An orphanage? Any hospitals left to target?
ALL of the US bears the responsibility, not just little donny.
Pretending you're democratic and awaiting due process is an excuse and unreasonably optimistic.
Despicable.

Thank you, George. I hope you have a great day

#4 He can kiss my entire pasty white ass. Firstly, who destroyed the *already existing* structure there? Secondly, who's gonna hurl missiles and drones at fucking tents? Thirdly, maybe don't put people in those tents then if you're so terrified that an alleged Iranian ICBM or something would be spent on that. Fourthly, I don't know how the White House structures are built in general, but I'm guessing their primary anti-missile defense isn't being made of Invincium as much as interception.

#6 should have seen that coming. Now political prisoners

#5 Fuckin ghoulish behavior. I have no doubt those detention centers where they've separated the kids from the adults are the stuff of fucking nightmares.
WillCorrectInaccuraciesForFood
According to the article the girl was allegedly abused in a foster home by another foster child, not in the detention center. They separated the child from her parent so the parent could be in the detention center, which is a different problem.

Apparently, canvas tents deserve more protections than immigrants and pregnant women.
FancyZach
According to this administration, only the white tents.

No Fighting Back Today?
MurderousCoat
Not every category gets a daily update.
GeorgeBounacos
I've missed Fighting Back maybe 5-10 days since we began. It's a hard weekend.
PuzzledCompletely
We'll have to DIY it.
spittytrinkles
Please give me some good news.
PuzzledCompletely
Here's a thing that US Residents can do, go to https://protectchaco.org/ and send a letter to our elected officials asking them not to open those lands to more mining. It's not good news yet, but it is a way we can fight back.
GeorgeBounacos
I really tried!

Thank you! A bit of space memorabilia from my childhood for you.

Problem with #2 is that California skewes Blue along the heavily populated coast, but Red towards the less populated, rural mid-to-east section of the state ... actually, no. That might not be a problem at all.
Kotarisu
That seems fairly true of the entirety of the United States, when looking at districts instead of state blocks.
Eiladar
Exactly; which is one of the many reasons that the Electoral College needs to be burned down. I don't recall the exact image, but if you overlaid a population density map on that one, the most concentrated number of votes would be in the Northeast (New York are) or the Southwest (California coast). It's why you see presidents get elected despite losing the popular vote - most states are all or nothing, meaning that if a candidate won by a single vote, that states electorate would cast in their

Favor - which is why so many people feel that their vote doesn't count if they live in a traditionally opposition state. To put it another way, the population density of California or New York could easily equal the combined population of several Midwest states and, while electoral votes are determined by population, combining several states numbers vs a single one (even in California's case, which has 50-something EC votes) is still putting their thumb on the scale.
