Refining things a bit

Making progress, deciding whether to stick to the traditional horns or go a little different

Decided to go with the regular horns. Starting to look pretty good! Woot!

The final sculpture with some cool cracks and texture detail. Horns are removed to make molding easier.

First coat of silicone captures all the detail.

Second and third batches are thickened to bulk out the mold and give it more strength and durability.

The hard shell is applied to the cured silicone top give the mold rigidity so it doesn't flop everywhere

Hard shell (jacket) is smoothed out with 99% alcohol so the fibres don't cut me later.

Removed from the sculpture! Look at all that detail!! Just about ready to cast!!

This is the silicon I used. Its great for the price, I'd like to use the next level up stuff but this suits my purposes just fine.

This is the thixotropic agent used to thicken the silicone. It smells nice but it's definitely poison. Don't drink it mmk

This is the rigid fibre paste I used for the jacket. It's great stuff. Can be painted, sanded, tapped and drilled.

Here's my first completed casting! I didn't take any pics of the horn mold but it's kind of boring so it doesn't matter much...still.. sorry for that!

I started by airbrushing a dark brown black first

Then I started layering colours on to of the black bits which gave it depth and character.

This is the last picture even though there is a bit more to do but it's pretty dang close to being done so I figured I'd show it off now!
