#1 Ever wanted to hear what jazz sounds like on a microtonal harpsichord? Of course you did. Well, I've found the video for you: https://youtu.be/upbwQPeGm0Q

#6 The spooked look in it's eyes and the concerned whining transitioning into Everything Is Fine, and then Time For A Nap is so cute.

I quite enjoyed #1 and #5.

In #4, I love the way he brings his own personal experience to make the joke and make it fun. But in the end brings it back to her being wholesome and loving. Because midway through it started to seem she wasn't sure about him continuing joking...

I was so worried when I saw that the first time. But yeah, perfectly done.

5 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

#4 that was really graceful. I was concerned about how this would end. Good work,

5 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Graceful is a perfect description.

#5 that was beautiful! Thank you PPinaB!

I wince when people cover one of my favourite tracks of all time. Not with this one, they both have such fantastic voices. Wonder if Thom Yorke has heard it….

My favorite one of the bunch. So good! 🤗

#5 Okay, that was phenomenal

5 days ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Right? So good.

How're you gonna have #1 in there with zero explanation. What microtonal (?) scale (?!??) is that? What's going on with the sound? Is there any theory, or is this pure experimentation? She has some other great stuff in this vein, though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSCT_tKDTLQ

Omg I had brussels sprouts three separate times this past weekend and that was me. Not Taco Bell, brassicas.

#10 always makes me laugh.

So much. I remember someone commenting once that it was fake/staged, but I refuse to believe that. So you better not tell me otherwise.

#4 I've seen a lot of this guy's stuff on YouTube and he's an absolute delight! He never picks on his audience, he always ribs them a little them turns it so positive. Really makes you smile! 😊

I'll have to check out more of his.

5 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i don't know shit about music and piano, could that not be played without the tuning?

5 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I have the same question. There's two comments now mentioning "microtonal" scales - so maybe a normally tuned piano wouldn't actually have the exact tones she needed? No idea.

5 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Basically, yes. There's microscopic variations in pitch, but at the pace she uses them, they're effectively repeats.

#8 "A fucking catio and catio garden?! Shit yeah! I'm in! Let's do this!" -- cat probably

5 days ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 2

I'm amazed that those two roommates have such great plans for their 900 square foot home.

4 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I did not understand that video.... they did 15 minutes work in a few hours judging by the sunlight... the cat was cute I suppose. Im nøt judging, can someone explain the point to me?

5 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 6

There's not really a point, it's just a video they made of them fixing up that bit of garden. They have an online presence, so they probably put all kinds of everyday stuff on social media. I actually debated including it and eventually decided that "yeah, it has kinda positive & relaxed vibes and it fits well into that slot in the post, so why not". That's all there's to it. :)

5 days ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Maybe then they’ll keep their cat inside and not out amurdering every day.

4 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

More than that

#1 Ngl the first part there kinda made me wince before she started singing

5 days ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 1

She changed some of the black keys to be rhe same as the white keys just ao she could do that little hand movement when it could have been accomplished just by playing the same notes faster. That has to be the dumbest thing ive ever seen done on a piano.

4 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Yeah, I was expecting the song to intentionally sound terrible for laughs. Wrong!

5 days ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Maddie Ashman is a ridiculously talented musician. You're looking for "microtonal" and most people have the homer at a jazz club reaction to it. Normal, but holy fuck as a musician, she is unreaaaal.

4 days ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Oh, 100%. Even now, having heard it several times, my ears are still surprised every time. :D

5 days ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Think that's why microtonal music is starting to gain a wider audience (well I should say western audience as microtonal music has been in Eastern/southeast Asian/Middle Eastern music for centuries). It's an interesting blend of discomfort and excitement, but putting it into a world we do understand gives it a surprising but memorable twist

4 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Idk about music. Sounds like a Piano to me. What did she do?

4 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Set it to play in half steps instead of full steps. Basically, a tone in between normal keys. Composers have experimented with this for hundreds of years with interesting results.

Angine du Poitrine is blowing up this month with their take on microtonal music. They have some sick grooves.
