The first one doesn't have the blue check and has changed its name 16 times in 10 years. The real Homeland Security based in the US does have the verified checkmark.

No no no, that's not how that works. Injecting lies where there are facts present isn't another person's problem. It's yours. And if this fooled you, that's okay, but don't double down on it when it gets caught.

There are plenty of accounts from foreign countries playing at being American. The DHS account isn't one of them.

To be clear, the timeline was as follows: 1) Twitter rolled out the "account based in" feature, allowing people to see where an account is based in. 2) The DHS account was shown to be based out of Israel 3) Twitter removed the feature for several hours, then reinstated it 4) The DHS account now shows a changed location. 5) The DHS official Twitter made the linked post drawing humor to the situation.

This happened, what you take away from it is your business.

16 name changes should tell you it's made up. If that's not enough it also lacks the checkmark. You've been fooled.

The linked post? I didn't see that. Still don't, but I engaged in some independent research.

And, YOU WERE AND ARE CORRECT. I was wrong! Thanks for providing the timeline, it checks out.

I normally post links but when its shit like this almost no one ever accepts the links as valid, because the mainstream news is gaslighting it, so it just tends to devolve into "my sources are better than your sources" nonsense. This one is pretty easy to look up yourself which what people should always do. Thank you for thinking for yourself.
