I love hockey and I love that the NHL awards a trophy for the player who exhibits the most sportsmanship throughout the season…the only professional sport that I know that does this.

This means that all of the players throughout the NHL notice who is a true ‘gentleman’ in his play. Despite the scraps, hard checks, fights, penalties, and intense play, through it all, fellow players acknowledge that some of their colleagues deserve to be acknowledged for playing the game by the numbers.

I don’t want to make this a political post but I feel that we have a lot to learn from this game and need more of this type of behavior in the ever deteriorating, morally vacant, world we find ourselves in…just my observation.

This isn't even close to the only professional sport that does this. The Walter Payton Man of the Year comes to mind. But literally every sport does this.
