Rakugo is an interesting form of entertainment. His interpretation of Rakugo is, of course, westernized and thus loses a lot of subtlety, but not a bad effort.

In Romanian, lamâie is Lemons, and la moue (the French for mouth) is slang for a blow job. They sound quite similar. That was an embarrassing day at the market.
Also saying "A meal" is o masă but two meals is două mase. Apparently my pronunciation was dodgy because I ended up with a lot of food from KFC!

Rakugo is a lot more than comedy. It is story-telling. Some stories are funny, some are tragic, some are scary. The guy in the vid does rakugo, but this video was not rakugo.

He does bona fide rakugo during the show, too. I suspect he adds the observational comedy to appease his non-Japanese audience members and to put them in the right frame of reference for appreciating rakugo.

no, it's a prop, same as the chopsticks he bangs on the table. It's all part of the Rakugo 'patter'.
