I don't listen to Spotify made for me playlist. I want to listen to my album or self made Playlist in full in the order I either chose or they're supposed to be in. Also why I thought Pandora sucked ass. You get one song you like and then the rest was crap. Moreover, when I was working at a store and the store music was the manager's Pandora stations, thePink Floyd one only played like at most 30 tracks all from they're later albums, older live versions from members solo careers.
The72ndRaven
I build out and curate all of my own playlists. I refuse to listen to the ones that Spotify makes and thinks I'll like.
zeacorzeppelin10
When they will take on track from a classical music piece and place that in-between other misplaced tracks from other albums the Playlist sucks.

Thanks for the reminder, I need to watch this again

Not JUST her, but probably up there. This has been an earworm of mine. https://youtu.be/PgHTqagDRcs?si=16Jwsnr0R8EPd7b-

Yeah, this is why I don't touch streaming music, only relying on my safe mp3 collection: Spotify replaced Hotel California in my playlist with the most awful cover I've ever heard.
smashpro1
Hey, my mp3 collection on shuffle is like this.
KristanDL
Digitally Imported. You pick a genre from manually curated radio channels without AI shit. With the same account and subscription you can listen to rock, jazz and classic radio websites with their own subgenres.
usernamemorelikeusershame
Spotify used to give me such good recommendations based on my playlist, found a lot of artists that way, but I guess one day they gave up on that idea and the algorithm threw Justin Bieber or something into my Korean R&B mix, like...??
dontrike
I don't get spotify, it's just a worse version of the radio. I can just buy the music I'm into and not worry about it disappearing from some streaming website.
Badprenup
I don't know how Spotify works exactly but in other streaming apps if you "thumbs down" a song it will skip it and then never play that version again unless you specifically search for it. It helps for excising the various shitty recommendations it throws at you
yuugian
That's how Pandora works and i LOVE it
DHTs
Not only does Spotify not have such a system (The downvote just skips the song in that particular playlist), you have to go the artist's page, then the specific song on the artist's page to block it from showing up. Sometimes even then it'll still show up. I stopped using them precisely because they would keep recommending and mixing in songs and artists I had blocked.
DMSledge
Turns out that spotify has been quietly commissioning cover songs, ripoff songs, and AI tracks to absorb more profits.
LincLoud
There is an interesting Swedish documentary about Spotify's origin on Netflix.
kahooki
That's pretty ironic imho.

I have sometimes used YouTube's "my mix" for background music. I watched a fan-animated video once cause I couldn't find the original of the song..... and suddenly the mix was 75% AI-slop nightcore "covers"
wabitgirl
Nowhere near enough people are talking about the rapid decay of human made cover music.

Jup. Tried listening to a few of those hour-long obviously AI slop background tracks. Its decent music for when I just want some pleasant background noise. Except for YTs algorithm now flooded my feed with that garbage of every awful genre variation. I had to spend many days clicking "Not interested" and "Don't recommend this channel" just to make the video feed barely usable.

And Spotify had something of the same problem back when I used it (before the AI craze). Listening to a few game soundtracks and the Spotify recommendations got flooded with everything related to gaming no matter the music genre.
RevRagnarok
I have 100% had this happen. Spotify just started playing some random Spanish song and I was "WTF?"
heroesblood
Spotify funds nazis, so you should dump them. I use Tidal. Marginally less crap.
etopsirhc
meanwhile i'm out here just fucking the algorithm for everyone. some Malhari, some Tenebre Rosso Sanguine, a bit of chuchDaq ‘Iw, Lyfjaberg, and Gurenge, on top of the usual metal, classic rock, country, and game music.

good music but didnt really get into it. skimmed through a top 15 playlist of them on youtube and chaghaybou was the best of what i heard, everything else kinda blended together too much. i think it's cause i'm getting a bit of a jazz-pop mix feeling from it, with some songs mixing in some more classic country vibes as well.

your welcome, but that's just my usual music. lol
