#1 I've been listening to this one, and Turn The Radio On, for 34 years. I guess I've never seen the video. All this time I thought it was a lesbian breakup song. One is unstable and cruel and the other is stable but damaged and in love with her girl.

Nostalgia is a hell of a drug. 😀

Tanita Tikaram - Twist In My Sobriety (1988) - OMG ... forgot about this awesome tune!

#1 in glad this wasn't popular in the late 90s. I dressed like that enough as it is.

#1 Shakespears Sister not Shakespear Sisters you might have mixed them up with Scissor Sisters... but i dunno

#1 Damn this kicks ass, thanks for putting me on!

Oh damn, Belinda Carlisle. That's a childhood crush, right there.

She was so so pretty, and Heaven is a place on Earth is one of the first music videos I’ve ever seen.

#1 On the day of the video shoot after doing the earlier part the singer went to a bar while on break and got very drunk. She came back and they put her in the black makeup/outfit. She isn't acting in those parts she isn't nearly black out drunk.

Remembering my Teen Years :|

#1 I remember reading about this music video ages ago, that one of them was drunk and angry about something, so she was exaggerating her expressions in the clip and the director loved it.

Sparkly outfit. Kept falling over. Looks great !

#3 Am I crazy or was that song not really well known until Stranger Things? I was alive in the 80's and I do not remember this song. At all.

2 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah it was pretty under the radar in America at least until then. I believe it was much bigger in the UK.

I knew about it slightly earlier because Warehouse 13 also used it to great effect, a few years before Stranger things.

Everyone out there lovin’ on Shakespeare’s Sister and nobody flagging #2 one of my favourite tracks from the era! (Although yes, Running up that hill is superb too)

Coming home after sitting on a public bus or train for what seemed like forever, not too pissed or out of it, just enough to feel pretty good right there, right now.. and then Mazzy Star send your tired ass to sleep on the couch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ImKY6TZEyrI

Haven't thought about Shakespeare's Sister in a long time.

#1 She has remarkably nice teeth.

And does a solid impression of a grieving Erika Kirk

Uncanny.

I think "Stay" is perfect for a metal cover because it allready has that slow "riff" in the background.

2 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I used to listen to VH1 and MTV (and then MTV2, because MTV stopped doing... y'know... music), and I don't even remember any of these...

I love Kate Bush, I really do, but when the Placebo version comes on, I have to crank it so loud the walls shake.

Agatha - Pond (1993)

#1 in retrospect that maybe was my first glimpse into a mindset that later led to a full blown gothic chapter of my life which I never fully abandoned.

#5 pretty much this one

Now most of this stuff is automated.

1 day ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why call it 90s when almost all songs are from the (indeed way better) 80s?

1 day ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Stay is a great tune. On that edge between what we now call "goth" and something more pop or mainstream. Same as cure, strawberry switchblade, wall of voodoo, concrete blonde. Even love & rockets and GLJ, although they were scene insiders, musically they're more adjacent to it.

#1 Watched the whole thing hoping to hear the high note, very satisfied

I miss the 90s sound. It had a liminal quality.

Just had the Dandy Warhols remind me how much I love The Cult - Rain: https://youtu.be/RD5b_0QB0wI?si=ua1DTyhs_L_7K7nI

I still love watching the Gunsmith Cats AMV someone made with Sabotage.

2 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Is that classical music?

1 day ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Was this performance all the way back in the 80's?
Epic, in any case.

2 days ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Sabotage came out in '94.

1 day ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Damn Patrick Wilson really does show up everywhere

2 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's a good cover ..although my cover band performs the SS version. Like it better.

1 day ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Cool. Thanks for the link. I've only recently started to explore Ghost. Take your fake points.

1 day ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I just wish he would cover Forsaken before he retires the band. Alas, seems not likely.
