Funny how much different the ears make them look. I had a dobie with natural ears and no one ever knew what he was! Such a sweet baby <3

In the first picture unsure and shy. In the second picture confident and self assured

Growing up I had a Doberman lab mix. It was the best dog I can ever imagine. She was my protector and best friend.

They're great family dogs with the soft ears

Beautiful pup!

So handsome and dignified! Probably doesn't act dignified at 4 months. ;-)

Haha not yet ;)

He looks like he gained a lot of confidence

I never really thought about that before- you're right! He does :)

Awesome! We got one too! She is 6months. They are amazing dogs. Good luck with your sweet boy

Oh she is beautiful! Good luck to you too!

He looks so sweet. Can I ask why he has two collars though?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The grey one is a flea and tick collar- I've heard mixed things about the topical solutions

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The grey one looks like a flea preventative collar

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

all the jingling from those tags on the collar would drive me insane in less than a day

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Interesting, we haven't really noticed- it is just the two (name tag and rabies).

when my friend's dog stays at my house when they go out of town i have to take his collar off as soon as he gets here. keeps me up at night.

That's a fine looking dog! I just read that Dobermans with cropped ears have to have them taped for an average of 4-5?? I like 'em natural.

He looks just like you!

Black and Tan Coonhound, right?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

I dunno, I have a B&T, and his jowls are a LOT more droopy than this guy's.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm thinking coonhound too. The face doesn't look Doberman to me.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Then you haven't seen many of either breed. It's clearly a Doberman.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How is your dog with kids? I want a bigger dog for my next dog. Our pit mix is super loving, but I want something more majestic.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Dobermans are great when well socialized :) Rocky loves kids and we have been amazed at how easy he is to train- it's the Doberman breed!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If you go to a local shelter, they often have dogs that have lived with/love kids

his first humans!

...and let's hope his last and only people

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ah! Well let me put you at ease- he is home :)

+1 for not cropping the ears. You're my kinds of people

9 years ago | Likes 169 Dislikes 5

They're actually cute dogs with floppy ears. Did not know that.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Technically they still can if he is only 4 months, but I sincerely hope they don't. I hate ear cropping, it's cruel and unnecessary.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We love his floppy ears- they are here to stay!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Do that many people still do that?

9 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

Unfortunately, yes people do! A few of his liter mates are either cropped or will be soon :(

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

It's banned in many countries (as is tail docking except docking for medical reasons by a certified vet as a safe medical procedure).

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

My mother insisted on it. I hate her for it, poor dog

yep.
