The āpshhkkkkkrrrrkakingkakingkakingtshchchchchchchcchdingdingdingā era for me. Before that our computer was still running DOS and I was too young to figure out how to use a computer anyways. After that we finally got access to (slow) broadband. We were rural though so I imagine people in cities were widely adopting broadband well before ā04.

That was the era where I played Hexen, with shittons of mods, and then later, Dark Forces, and a million different mod patches. Problem was, whenever the old man saw me there on the computer he'd mutter 'always on that fucking machine. Can't fucking get a job, fucking wasting life there, fucking stupid shit...ect'
