It was about time!

It feels so fucking good, but I have no idea how to keep up to date with concerts, shows and events happening. Well, I guess I'll find a way.
Now the closest thing I have to any social media is Imgur. Fuck yes!

well done, i managed to get myself banned somehow, i guess someone didnt like my comments or maybe my posts were deemed too inflamatory, same result

Spotify is pretty good about concert updates for bands I follow and whether they’ll be near me

I've kept mine for now. I don't look at the feed, which is 90% adverts/scams I have no interest in, another 5% is what someone I worked with 5 years ago is having for dinner, and the other 5% that I might actually care about is probably something I'll find out about by actually talking to people. So I only visit specific groups that don't have a presence on other sites. Mostly local community announcements and stuff.

I only use Facebook for keeping in touch with friends I haven’t talked to in many many years. Which means I don’t really use Facebook - however I do like coming here and seeing all this weirdness.

Welcome to the resistance

I don’t use FB for communication but I do use it to keep in touch and seeing what’s going on with friends. Besides cousins that live too far away from for visits, I have 2 friends from jr high, 3 from HS and several from overseas in a country in which I spent 30yrs of my life. (Moved back 2+yrs ago) The people that I am in frequent communication with do not use FB Messenger. I don’t even have that app.

I have very few friends who even use facebook at all, but almost all of them use messenger, so the choice was made a bit easier by that.

Bluesky is alright right now. Good mix of people on there and proper filtering. I nuked my fb two years ago and don't miss it at all.

Bluesky seems more like an alternative to Twitter than Facebook, no?
Twitter and Facebook are for very different purposes.

I've never seen any reason for twitter or the like.

Most venues have a calendar and e-newsletter that you can subscribe to that’ll give you dates of upcoming shows

Yea, but I know I will never read those.

I need it to be in contact with family and friends.
But disabling notifications did wonders for my mental health!

I keep messenger, that's the only part of FB I use anyways.

I wish, but too much is done in Facebook events and groups, Messenger is not enough for that 😕

I don't think I've had notifications on for ar least ten years. I only enable notifications for messages an calls. No apps at all.

Yup, mine has been on Do-not-disturb for about a decade.
Using a hybrid smartwatch to vibrate on message/call, no sounds for me! And without a display on the watch, it doesn't make me want to look at it, so it's a minimal distraction.

Same here. And Don't use the official app. Friendly seems to be ok.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I never tried an unofficial app for that - got a link to a good one?

Friendly is what I use now

I have the same problem: 1/2 my family ONLY communicates via FB - I had to find out my SIL was in the the ICU bc of a fb post. The other part is that my small town uses it as the town message board. No way to be informed otherwise.
