Absolutely dumb. Nobody did any calculations as evidenced by the shattered ramp, several braking barriers and STILL they keep standing there as if they are somehow better equipped. Even if they feel responsible for the damage that will occur downstream they're still stupid to think they can stop it

I exaggerated. If you are only loosely holding on with gloved fingers, you will be largely fine, maybe a sprain or twisted finger at worst. However, if you had a rope or a claw-like mechanism used by rug movers, ice pickers and such workers to hold onto the mattress with more mechanical grip around your palm, that does put you into territory of having your fingers ripped off by the sudden impulse. Sorry about misrepresenting the problem at hand
