At center, molar with gold crown (from ~1 year ago); with Basilosaurus incisor (from ~10 million years ago) at left; and Megalodon tooth (from ~10 million years ago) at right.

A friend had his wisdom tooth (molar) extracted about a year ago, and the pic above shows his freshly removed tooth compared to the fossil teeth of two titans, a giant carnivorous whale and a giant shark, from the Miocene epoch, about 10 million years ago.

The fossil teeth were found by me when I was a law enforcement diver. I found them in the Savannah River while recovering evidence.

Note the ridges on the enamel of the Basilosaurus (prehistoric whale) tooth, and the serrations on the Megalodon (prehistoric shark) tooth. It is possible that these two giants were adversaries or competitors in the ancient seas. While neither of them are known to have had gold crowns, Megalodon teeth are occasionally found to have been mineralized with pyrite, which has a gold-like gleam. :)

Shown above is a fun pic that shows the relative size of Megalodon’s enormous jaws to a modern Great White shark and modern Great White female human. LOL

Here are some interesting factoids about the giant prehistoric carnivorous whale (Basilosaurus), the giant prehistoric shark (Megalodon), and their size relative to a modern human (Homo Sapiens), African elephant (Loxodonta Africana), Great White shark (Carcharodon Carcharias) and school bus (Yellow Submarinias).

Lots of gold! Said he had it crowned 27 yrs ago. Dentist did one heck of a job. Surgeon was amazed the molar extracted w/ crown intact

The 18K gold Rolex Submariner I pulled up once was quite a cool find ... with the wrist of the owner still attached! LOL

Awesome handle (Carcharodon02)! ID by genus (the bigger boat) is a sign of a pro!

That's not a basilosaurus tooth. They went extinct around 34 million years ago. Most modern whales that are around today were evolving

Around that time and what I believe you have there is a Livyatan whale tooth just imagine a sperm whale on steroids

Sorry around 15 to 10 million years ago was when most modern whales were evolving

Valuable input, thanks! Livyatan was a monstrous beast, however the ridges on the enamel of this tooth are not consistent w/ it
