As a mother, I'm going to tell you what I told my daughters. Make sure you have mace, but also get a t-ball bat. They are metal and small enough to use indoors. Also, if it comes to the worst, it doesn't take much to damage someone's face, so size doesn't matter as much. Eyes and ears are especially vulnerable.
