That was, to me, essentially the debut of Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson as well. Yes not the same character at all, but the similarities in behavior and such made me think back then he should be cast in a Deadpool movie if it ever happened. My own little head canon I guess lol.

I heard somewhere that his character was originally supposed to be Wade, but it was changed part way through production without actually changing how he was written. The comic version of Hannibal King is a lot more serious and no-nonsense

Ryan Reynolds forced to be Ryan Reynolds because Snipes wasn't doing jack shit. So much of the film had him saying or doing something stupid because most of the footage they had of Snipes was of him looking on without emotion.
Snipes is an amazing actor but he's had some weird moments in his career.
