Iconic Rotterdam photo.

A man stands on top of the Hef under construction in 1926. The two bridge sections on the banks date from 1878. The middle section was originally a swing bridge. However, this was a major obstacle to shipping. Several ships got stuck in the narrow passage, in 1918 the German ship 'Kanderfels' even sailed completely against the pier. The latter accident was the deciding factor for the construction of a lifting bridge to replace the swing bridge. The bridge was designed by P. Joosting and opened on October 31, 1927. The photographer is unknown. The photo is owned by the Rotterdam City Archives.

In 1940 the Nazis bombed Rotterdam and finished what the Kanderfels could not.

Why can't dickhead just ship the poles to another shipyard and tow the yacht there for attachment? What about folks who use the bridge?
