Beavers are on a mission to maintain wetlands... they are better at it than any humans.

...I am Steve in many cases...

But also, yes, beavers absolutely hear running water and go 'Absolutely Not'. That's why Otters kill them and take their stuff.

Why are there Pop tarts but not Mom tarts?

It’s because of the male pastryarchy.

Some people's moms are tarts.

#1 I recently read that they dislike the sound of running water, so they instinctually build dams to stop the sound, but I think it was an infographic on cracked.com, so there may be a more reliable source out there

No yeah thats it, its an auditory trigger. You can play running water noise on a speaker and beavers will start stackin shit on it.

What is this, an Oregon State frat house?

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

#1 Yes, they do. The dams are like their nests. The water adds a layer of protection from predators since they are semi-aquatic and can remain safe inside. The entrance is located underwater making it an ideal place to stay safe and rest.

Except when those predators are otters.

beavers will instinctively block hallways with towels or boxes or brooms. Whatever they can get their paws on. Depending on how much or little you anthropomorphize, you could argue both sides for the answer. Either way, they make poor roommates.

Mostly correct, a beaver lodge is where they live and is usually not part of the dam, also it's worth mentioning, the noise of running water is a biological trigger for them to start dam building.
