Have you tried ome of the cushion collars for Panko instead of the cone. I forget the name. But I had one like this for my pitbull for a bit. Seemed more comfortable didn't get in the way.

We use a cushion one depending on what problem he has. This one stops him from being able to paw at eye while irritated. Usually takes a day or two to setting down again. :)
