Still a bribe.

Yeah and Trump's no fucking Roosevelt. That's for sure.
AyatollahBahloni
Well, that was enlightening. Never learned anything about these matters in history class.

Dear EU and the BCW, please let Trump hoist himself by his own petard. Thank you.

Trump nonsense aside I think you'd have a VERY hard time finding any "great" historical figure who wasn't on some level a terrible person.

True, Jesus Christ used to fart in elevators, then smile at everyone and say "HOLY SHIT"

Churchill was right of center for his time, and even far-right on some of these issues. The entire world wasn't racist, in case that's what you're thinking.
raitchison
He was the leader of the Conservative Party of course he was right of center.
All I said was that he, like (probably) every other famous "great" leader is a bastard on some level.
Even Ghandi. https://www.ofmi.org/gandhis-sexual-abuse-of-grandnieces/

Allies: hey maybe we should send India some food since they're helping us out in the war?
Churchill: lol fuck em

In some ways dragging people for the prevailing views of the past is a pointless endeavour, other than making the person making the accusations feel important. There has to be a distinction between assholes like Columbus, who was awful even for his time, and people that held what were once mainstream opinions.

Did you actually read about the Bengal famine, what he said about Native Americans, Indians, Palestinians, etc? He was right of center for his time, and even far-right on some of these issues.
FrozenCoast
During the Bengal famine WW2 was still ongoing. Food was prioritized accordingly (right or wrong). There was also a bunch of natural disasters drum during this time including a cyclone a total wave, as well disease ripped through the local rice crops. It’s oversimplified to blame Churchill for it.
